The AFU 10th Mountain Assault Brigade produced the below video montage on the Russian #Avdiivka counteroffensive.

The Russian losses you see were supposed to be the best of the best they had. In other words, they spent a huge amount of time and resources training (their best young "russkiye" regular soldiers as opposed to ChMobiks), arming (with their best weapons and equipment), and amassing their forces (artillery, aircraft, etc.) to conduct the counteroffensive. The anticipated narrative if they had succeeded would have been about their superior forces and the brilliance of their commanders.

At this point in the battle, they are approaching the level of the absurd tactics seen in #Andriivka and #Klishchiivka in the #Bakhmut sector where they lost three to five brigades conducting one mass meat assault after the other. In my mind, I see a Russian general standing in front of a map with a pointer saying "try here... now try here... over here...", just randomly searching for a brakthrough.

Lastly, the "counter offensive" in the north is a distraction in a last ditch effort to pull this one out of the hat. Putin and Shoigu's calculus is that they have the hole winter to rebuild so they are "all in" regardless of the losses.

On the AFU side, let's hope they have what it takes to keep up this pace of fighting and then counterattack when Russia is at its weakest.
