The consensus in crypto is that the next bull run fixes everything.
Bad product? Bull run will bring users. Weak tokenomics? Bull run will cover it. Team that hasn't shipped in two years? Bull run gives them one more chance.
Everyone nods at this without saying it out loud because it has been true enough times to feel like a law.
But what it actually does is remove accountability from builders during the only period when accountability matters. Bear markets are when you find out what a team actually does when nobody is watching the price. Most teams use that time to wait.
The consensus is not wrong about bull runs bringing activity. It is wrong about what that activity reveals. A rising market hides bad products the same way a rising tide hides garbage on the ocean floor. When it recedes, you see exactly what was there the whole time.

Came for football. Got risk management.
Somewhere between the fourth consecutive 0-0 in the group stage and the seventh goalkeeper who decided to just boot it long and hope for the best, I realized what this tournament has become. A survival competition dressed up as a sport.
The problem is structural. Four years is too long to wait. Nobody wants to be the coach who gambled and lost at a World Cup. So everyone plays not to lose. And when everyone plays not to lose, nobody plays to win. The result is 90 minutes of organized hesitation followed by penalties, which is its own kind of injustice.
The dribble is almost extinct at this level. The player who takes someone on one v one is now considered a liability, not an asset. The winger who runs at defenders has been replaced by the winger who recycles possession. Tactically correct. Completely soulless.
Football used to be about the moment a player decided to do something nobody expected. That instinct is being coached out of the game at every level, and the World Cup is where you see the final product.
Positives: the stadiums looked good on TV.

There is one question I keep asking myself every time I submit a campaign on Rally.
Did I actually read what they want, or did I just write something I thought sounded good?

I picked the Community path on the GenLayer Portal and here is why.
You do not need to write code to have a stake in what gets built. The network needs people who understand the problem, talk about it clearly, and bring others in. That is a real role in an early protocol, not a consolation prize.
