My husband refused to allow me attend his daughter's nursery school graduation ceremony.
He insisted that only he and his baby mama would attend.
According to him, she wants to be actively involved in her daughter's life now, and that's a good thing, so he can't stop her.
The painful part was that the little girl actually asked for me.
When she realised it was only her dad that was going with her, she looked at me and said:
"Mommy, are you not coming to my graduation?"
That question broke my heart.
My husband had this daughter while he was almost done with NYSC.
At the time, the girl's mother was in 200 level studying Medicine and Surgery.
According to him, she was scared of having an abortion, so she carried the pregnancy to term and gave birth.
After the delivery, she said she wanted to focus on her studies and wasn't ready to raise a child at that stage of her life.
So my husband handed the baby over to his married elder sister to take care of, with the support of her husband.
I met my husband about a year later, and we got married the following year.
Since then, I've been helping to raise this little girl.
I've taken her to school, cared for her when she was sick, attended school events, helped with homework and treated her like my own child.
She's 6 years old now and calls me Mommy.
Not because anyone forced her to, but because that's the role I've played in her life since she was about 2 years old.
Now she's graduating from nursery school and about to start primary school.
Meanwhile, her biological mother has completed her degree and is now a practicing doctor.
She says she's finally ready to be actively involved in her daughter's life.
I don't have a problem with that.
A child deserves to know and have a relationship with her mother.
What hurts is that it's like everyone suddenly forgot I've been here all these years.
My husband keeps saying she's the girl's real mother and deserves another chance.
He says she didn't abandon her daughter, she simply wanted to focus on school and build her career first.
Maybe that's true.
But I can't help feeling pushed aside.
I wasn't asking him to stop her from attending the graduation.
I just don't understand why I couldn't be there too.
After everything, it felt like my role in that little girl's life suddenly didn't matter.
And if I'm being honest, another thought has been bothering me.
What if the baby mama wants more than just a relationship with her daughter?
What if she wants my husband back too?
Will I keep getting pushed aside whenever she's involved?
I love this little girl, and she loves me too.
But right now, I honestly don't know what to think.
Am I overreacting, or do I have a reason to be worried?
Vücudumuzun en küçük birimlerinden biri yalnız olamaz.
Yalnız olduğumuzda veya yalnız hissettiğimizde vücudumuzda neler olduğunu düşünün.
Bunu görmezden gelenler her zaman yalnız kalacaklar.
I don’t think people talk enough about how hard it is to find genuine love when you’re young and gay.
You can disagree with who I am. That’s your right.
But I hope you can still see me as a person.
Because loneliness doesn’t care about sexuality.
Two years ago I went on a date with a man. I went to his for exactly two hours. I know it was exactly two hours because I set an alarm. Why did I set an alarm? Because I could SMELL HIM as I got out of my car and we were walking towards each other.
I ended up ghosting him and felt REALLYYYYYY bad about it because he was the nicest man. I wasn’t all the way attracted and I’m not a woman who fixes men.
Anyway, last month I meet a man and we’ve been talking every day. THE SWEETEST MAN.
Lütfen yardım edin 😭 dilimde bir haftadır böyle bir şey var ne olduğunu bilmiyorum acıtmıyor da sadece yemek yediğimde dişime takılıyor bunun ne olduğunu bilen var mı ??😭
My son has had a huge crush on this girl he has 2 classes with, the entire school year. He’s 6’2, and she’s actually 6ft and Greek and I’ve had to hear all school year about this tall Greek Goddess he has a crush on.
He finally works up the courage to talk to her a few weeks back and she tells him she’s had a crush too. He invites her to breakfast and does a bunch of chores last week to earn the money from me to take her. FAST FORWARD to their date today…
When cancer diagnosed my father at 70, we braced for the hardest fight of our lives.
We believed the disease would be the ultimate test of our family’s strength.
We were wrong.
The deepest heartbreak came from the one who had vowed to stand beside him “in sickness and in health” and then walked away.
When my father turned 70, he had already spent his entire life taking care of everyone else.
He worked overtime so we could go to school.
He skipped buying things for himself so my siblings and I never had to go without.
He was the strongest man I knew.
Then, one doctor's appointment changed everything.
"Cancer."
I watched the colour disappear from his face.
He didn't ask, "Why me?"
He only asked,
"How do I tell my family?"
