It's that time of the year again! This week many will be heading to Velankanni for the annual pilgrimage to the shrine of OL of Health as novenas begin on 30th Aug. We've been ecstatic ever since @Central_Railway decided to run spl. trains from LTT-VLNK for pilgrims since 2015.
Indigenous languages mean:
Knowledge 👁️
Peace 🕊️
Rights ⚖️
Inclusion 👥
Diversity 🌐
To boost their protection and promotion, in 2019 we'll be celebrating the year of the Indigenous Languages.
Get involved! 👉https://t.co/W5CjxBrRkQ #WeAreIndigenous
A day to be proud of your culture
A day to be proud of your heritage
A day to be proud of who you are
A day to stand up for your rights
Today is International #IndigenousPeoplesDay
Join the celebration! https://t.co/DSHsLBI3o5 #WeAreIndigenous
This #IndigenousDay, we recognise & respect the East Indian community's struggle to retain the rights to our lands, our attempts to retrace our lost culture, and the pathways we are forging to bridge the gaps in knowledge between various EI occupational & social groups.
Led by the Mobai Gaothan Panchayat and supported by more than 30 community associations and groups, the East Indian community of Mumbai, Thane, Raigad & Vasai will be gathering at various spots in and around Mumbai for the East Indian Solidarity Rally on Sunday, 29 July.
We're super late for #WorldEmojiDay but here's one from us anyway!

In Sequeira House, an old East Indian house that I explored last year, the collection of religious items is minimum but the wooden altar - called panel in our tongue (pronounced puh-nail) is an old-fashioned ornate one.
These ornate wooden panels are hard to come by now.
You know you're entering the home of a card-holding Roman Catholic when you are greeted by a religious icon/image immediately upon entering.
While the profusion of religious paraphernalia in a single room can get overwhelming at times, I like to keep an eye out for unusual items
In commemoration of its glorious past, the Parish of St John the Baptist, Thane is releasing ‘WITNESS’, an insightful book that provides a detailed narrative of its 700-year-old legacy.
During the visit of His Holiness Pope Paul II in 1964, for the 38th International Eucharistic Congress at Oval Maidan, slotted angle barricades were used for the first time in the history of Bombay, to control pedestrian traffic #TuesdayTrivia
@ajaynadkarni Also, there's East Indian Cozinha and East Indians (TM) bottle masala.... Both selling their products on Amazon India. You can check them out too. :)
A few glimpses of folks who braved the #MumbaiRains yesterday & put up stalls at the #EastIndianBazaar, #Bandra. Vindaloo, sorpotel, potato chops, pickles, preserves, dry fish, masalas, veggies & much more on sale. Their smiling faces are proof enough that it was a good day! 😁
@ajaynadkarni If you wish to buy them online there are quite a few options. There's @EastIndianMemCo that sells a variety of East Indian masalas through their website. Here's the link: https://t.co/5OgmEGdvLb
An online women's magazine called Femnet is putting the spotlight on Indian Christian women, and as far as I know, they are the only ones to do this.
Earlier in the year, they asked me to share my story for their readers, so here it is, in Issue 67! https://t.co/MxLwPBMZ1u
