माझ्या आमदार निधीतून जुहू कोळीवाडा येथील शासकीय जमिनीवर साकारलेल्या 'काका जोसेफ बॅप्टिस्टा ईस्ट इंडियन भवन व उद्यानाचे' भव्य उद���घाटन संपन्न झाले.

मोब��ई गावठण पंचायतच्या सातत्यपूर्ण पाठपुराव्यामुळे आणि महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या आर्थिक पाठबळातून ही देखणी वास्तू अत्यंत देखण्या रूपात प्रत्यक्षात उभी राहिली आहे.

भारताच्या स्वातंत्र्यसंग्रामात सक्रिय सहभाग घेणारे, तसेच लोकमान्य बाळ गंगाधर टिळक व स्वातंत्र्यवीर विनायक दामोदर सावरकर यांचे वकील म्हणून न्यायालयात बाजू मांडणारे महान स्वातंत्र्यसेनानी काका जोसेफ बॅप्टिस्टा यांच्या स्���ृतीस हे उद्यान आदराने समर्पित करण्यात आले आहे. लोकमान्य टिळकांचे ऐतिहासिक घोषवाक्य 'स्वराज्य हा माझा जन्मसिद्ध अधिकार आहे' याचे निर्माते म्हणून ओळखले जाणारे काका जोसेफ बॅप्टिस्टा हे ईस्ट इंडियन समाजाचे अनमोल गौरव असून, त्यांच्या अद्वितीय ऐतिहासिक योगदानाचा सन्मान म्हणून या संपूर्ण वास्तूचे नामकरण त्यांच्या नावे करण्यात आले आहे.

या वास्तूमध्ये परिसरातील नागरिक आणि लहान मुलांसाठी अनेक अत्याधुनिक सुविधा उपलब्ध करून देण्यात आल्या आहेत. या उद्यानामध्ये काका जोसेफ बॅप्टिस्टा यांचा एक भव्य पुतळा उभारण्यात आला असून लहान मुलांसाठी सुसज्ज प्ले एरिया, ईस्ट इंडियन समाजाचा समृद्ध इति��ास आणि संस्कृती दर्शवणारे 'ईस्ट इंडियन म्युझियम', तरुणांच्या प्रगतीसाठी 'स्किल डेव्हलपमेंट सेंटर' तसेच विविध सामाजिक व कौटुंबिक समारंभांसाठी हवेशीर मांडव उभारण्यात आला आहे.

या विशेष उद्घाटन सोहळ्याला ईस्ट इंडियन समाजातील विविध क्षेत्रांतील मान्यवर मोठ्या संख्येने उपस्थित होते. हे सुंदर स्वप्न प्रत्यक्षात आणण्यासाठी माझे मित्र आणि मोबाई गावठण पंचायतचे मुख्य कर्तेधर्ते ग्लिसन बरेटो, अल्फी डिसुझा यांच्या अथक पाठपुराव्यामुळे आणि पंचायतच्या इतर सर्व ट्रस्टींच्या अविरत प्रयत्नांमुळेच हे काम यशस्वीरित्या पूर्ण होऊ शकले आहे.

भारताच्या स्वातंत्र्यलढ्यात मोलाचे योगदान देणाऱ्या या महान क्रांतिकारकाला हे उद्यान आणि भवन आदराने समर्पित करण्यात येत आहे!
