The last time minimum wage was increased was 14 years ago to $7.25/hour.
In 2023, that wage is STILL $7.25.
You can't raise a family of 4, never mind rent a one-bedroom apartment, on a minimum wage salary. #RaiseTheWage
We are out here standing in solidarity with Starbucks workers at the Starbucks on Main St until 12! They are fighting for access to healthcare & gender-affirming care & safe working conditions ✊
No contract? NO COFFEE! ☕️
Come out TODAY to the Main St. Starbucks at 10 AM to support striking Starbucks Workers, who are "striking with pride" this week to fight for healthcare access, gender-affirming care & safety and against intimidation.
QT rights are Workers' rights!
We're thankful for the leadership of @GovWhitmer, working to get our colleagues the collective bargaining rights they deserve! Every worker deserves a union.
This is what pro-labor leadership looks like. The @UMich Democratic Regents (like @JordanAckerMI) could learn something!
BREAKING: UM faculty sign pledge to withhold grades until at least May 12, pending major movement in bargaining.
Faculty can add their names to the solidarity letter here:

Local news covered last night's unjustifiable detainment of grad workers by @UMichPrezOno's campus cops. It's plain for all to see the shameful way Admin treat their students & workers.
It's time for Ono to do the right thing and give us a fair contract.

UM admin is telling faculty that not submitting grades harm "vulnerable students." This is categorically false. You know what is harming them? Admin's continued dismissal of our well-researched proposals disability accoms, int'l fees, class size, wages, and more.
The @UMich Regents called our $14k raise ask "unrealistic". Let's look at at the raises their top administrators got last year.
Special s/o to CFO @GeoffChatas getting a $160k raise just last year – more than 10x what we want.
We are asking for less than Admin give themselves.
"We want to look upon U-M and feel pride in the institution that is a cornerstone of our lives and our community. Instead, the University’s recent public rhetoric and actions regarding GEO are deeply embarrassing"
Lots of #solidarity today! 50 @UMich alum working at Mathematica sent a letter to @UMichPrezOno & McCauley expressing support for our strike.
Alumni are watching our strike & Admin's shameful behaviour. If they want alumni donations, they'd better treat workers w/ respect!
We're tweeting a line from our op-ed + report on the UM budget every day this week: "Self-imposed austerity on the University’s regional campuses is stressful for its students, faculty and staff, making teaching and learning more difficult and degrees harder to pursue and enjoy."
Our first Haven Hall knit-in was a great success - so much solidarity, so much crafting! Thank you to @yeagersa for leading the event - we hope to do more!
