Eto ang transcript ng sinabi nya sa Commission on Appointments:

“Meron po tayong mga isla na occupied natin ngayon. Eto yung Kalayaan Island Group. Ngunit they are way way beyond our EEZ. Wala dun sa limit ng ating Exclusive Economic Zone.

Ano ba talagang ipagpapatayan natin dito? For something that is not even within our EEZ. Ang gawin natin po para madali, i-give up natin ang KIG.”

ANG GAWIN NATIN PARA MADALI, i-GIVE UP NATIN ANG KIG.

The KIG is not ours on the basis of EEZ, which is under UNCLOS and refers to maritime rights.

The KIG is ours because of the doctrines of res nullius, effective occupation, and PD 1596 which states that the Kalayaan Island Group is Philippine territory.

Thus, the KIG is ours not as a maritime right but as a territorial right — we are claiming it as our territory and so far because we have Barangay Pag-Asa (with more than 400 Filipinos residing) in Thitu Island which is part of the KIG, we have effective occupation of the KIG.

By parroting China talking points and propaganda, you are exposing yourself as a Senator of the Republic of China and not of the Republic of the Philippines.

You cannot be ignorant or negligent.

You are intentionally and willfully lying and gaslighting the Filipino people because you are a lawyer — you are presumed to know the law which includes Presidential Decree No. 1596 and the relevant international laws on discovering and occupying res nullius territory.
