@HeidiSchlumpf I saw a sign the other day that said "would you rather have multiculturalism or AMERICA?" as if they were two completely separate things.
"Christian love is not a concentric expansion of interests that little by little extend to other persons and groups."
FYI, it's not really a great thing when the pope calls you out directly in a letter @JDVance....

@JDVance “Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters...cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26
"‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater." Mark 12:30
I could keep going, but it's not about faith, is it?
Tell me you know nothing about child care without telling me you know nothing about child care.
(In case Vance is curious, my parents both still work, and no one in my kiddo's daycare--all of whom I loved--had 6 year degrees. But tell me more about how to save that 2400/month.)
Q: “What can we do about lowering the cost of daycare?”
JD Vance: “…Maybe Grandpa and Grandma want to help a little bit more. Maybe there’s an uncle/aunt who wants to help a little bit more…” @Acyn
@missfloratang Once heard homily about how the reason women can't be ordained is that they aren't made in the image of God the way men are. We confess to priests because they have some direct line to God and can forgive sins. Women don't have that direct line, therefore women can't be priests.
"During those few moments spent contemplating a berry bush, I had a flash of what it means to be part of God’s creation," writes @ejesanna. "I was not apart from or superior to nature but part of it."

Watching the Disney version of Robin Hood, because it’s never too early to teach the kiddo about his fellow Robin. Not to mention that the role of the church is to stand against the state to liberate the poor.
The work of the church would not happen without the (often underpaid) labor of wives and mothers. Something for Bishop Strickland and Harrison Butker to consider.
@BishStrickland I don’t know that you’d agree with some of the things he said about women and family life as you yourself showed a consistent pattern of happily hiring wives and mothers of large families to serve in leadership roles in your diocese (for example one has 7 children another has 5)
On this episode of the Glad You Asked podcast, hosts @ejesanna and @RBrattenWeiss speak with guest Matthew Arnold about angels in the Bible and why our ideas about them are so varied.

@caseybogs@USCatholic You’re right—God did create them. As trans. The “change” is only necessary because society didn’t let them live as God created them. It’s society who forces the lie, not God.
@caseybogs@USCatholic Trans people aren't a mistake, nor is a trans person living their true identity "fixing" a mistake. God rejoices in a trans person living their full identity. It is the mistake when we prevent people from living into the fullness of who God created them to be.
This! There are other ways to teach and model generosity and kindness besides sharing the food and drink a kid is in the middle of enjoying or whatever toy they are currently immersed in playing with.
Unpopular opinion: I’m not big on teaching my kids that “sharing is caring.” As adults, we don’t share our personal items (phones, cars, drinks, etc) so why should I force my kids to share theirs?
“Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return” is a fitting sentiment when surrounded by gray dirt and old snow. The barrenness of outside makes this an appropriate time to mourn and repent for all that separates us from God, writes @ejesanna.

@jennintheattic @RutiRegan We love Grandad's Camper, and my 2 yo is getting the sequel, Grandad's Pride, for Christmas (also the illustrations are just gorgeous--I really want art prints from the author). I think it might be the first kids' book I've seen about adult trans people--especially grandpa aged!
Perhaps Christian women should aim to be less like the Proverbs 31 wife and more like Jael. My latest lectionary reflection for @USCatholic. https://t.co/RA3pPHrrKi
