@theoceanblooms What nonsense. The English channel has that name in England and La Manche in French. Two different cultures can call the same thing different names. Ireland can call the archipelago whatever it wants and so can the UK.
@OrlaSingh7538@neilalexanderw1 The UK can name the island group anything it wishes - as can Ireland. Just like the English Channel or North Sea have different names depending on your perspective.
@seankeane77@neilalexanderw1@GrainneogDoc The UK can have its own name for the islands and Ireland can have its own name. The French don't require the UK to change the name of the Channel to La Manche for example so I'm not sure why the Irish require the UK to change the name for the island group.
@samueljenkinson Welsh would be the appropriate language in most of England (with Cornish) - Gaelic is a more modern arrival due to Irish immigrants moving into Western Scotland
