Yesterday in OTTAWA , we had a wonderful engagement with our KENYAN diaspora in the National Capital Region. 🇰🇪🇨🇦

Beyond the speeches and discussions, the event came alive with traditional dancing, singing and an abundance of Kenyan food—a beautiful celebration of our culture, community and shared identity.

Our DIASPORA in CANADA is one of our most powerful resources, and I am proud and grateful for the opportunity to connect with our people and strengthen our bonds.

I am grateful to the outgoing committee for their service and commitment, and wish the new officials every success as they take up the mantle.

Yesterday, Amb. Geoffrey E. Kaituko, CBS, held discussions with Mr. Ronald Lwabaayi, President of Livelihood Development International Initiatives (LDII). The engagement brought together diplomatic and private-sector perspectives to explore opportunities for advancing sustainable development priorities for 2026/2027. The discussions focused on sustainable mining and natural-resource development, with emphasis on transparent investment models and green-mining frameworks that can leverage Canada’s extensive mining expertise alongside Kenya’s emerging mining sector. They also explored opportunities for tourism and heritage exchange, including the development of economic corridors that promote sustainable travel, deepen cultural understanding, and strengthen Kenya–Canada people-to-people ties. The engagement further highlighted human-capital development, particularly the need to build resilient skills-development pipelines and harness the Kenyan diaspora as a catalyst for community development, knowledge transfer, investment, and inclusive growth.

Bringing Services Closer to Our People 🇰🇪🇨🇦

Following the Mobile Consular Services in Winnipeg, we had the pleasure of meeting members of the Kenyan community for a social afternoon at Parkside.

Despite the weather, Kenyans turned up in good numbers, and it was wonderful to see the warmth, enthusiasm and appreciation with which they received us. Many expressed their gratitude that the Mission had reached them after close to 15 years.

Beyond the consular services, our visit brought the Mission closer to the people. It spared many Kenyans the considerable cost, time and inconvenience of travelling all the way to Ottawa to access services.

For us, this is what diplomacy is about: being present, listening to our people, serving them, and ensuring that no Kenyan feels too far from home.

It was a memorable afternoon of fellowship, connection and renewed commitment to our Kenyan community in Manitoba.@KenyaInCanada
