I also think many Luos and those who have lived under the yoke of Luo/Odinga politics are supporting Ruto less out of political conviction and more to spite Kikuyus. They feel Kikuyus have denied their tribesman Raila the presidency since 2002, so now it is vendetta politics.

The irony is that they are always the loudest when lecturing Kikuyus about voting emotionally.

The unfortunate part is that this could leave them in greater political oblivion than the Kikuyus. The man they are supporting, Ruto, has helped split ODM into fragments and weaken the very political machine that gave them leverage.

And now they no longer have their traditional warlord, Raila, who could lose an election and still negotiate his way into the next government through the back door.

The saddest part may be Luo Nyanza itself. If this herd mentality of blaming everyone else for their problems continues, the region could pay the price through years of political stagnation and underdevelopment.

At some point, a community has to stop treating politics as tribal revenge and start asking what actually benefits its people.
