A guy in China wired Andrej Karpathy method into Claude Code and turned a dead 15,000-note Obsidian vault into the smartest second brain on earth.

His vault was a graveyard: 956 files nobody reopened, 80 saved tabs, 0 clicks in 6 months.

Then one Karpathy line broke him: you don’t know a thing until you can build it from scratch. Tutorials are fake learning that your brain wipes in 3 days, along with the 40 tabs you saved and never opened.

So he flipped the whole frame.

Obsidian is the IDE, Claude Code is the programmer, and his 5,000 notes are the codebase.

He stopped asking AI questions it forgets by morning and made it maintain a living wiki instead.

3 commands run the whole system.

Ingest: he drops an article, a podcast, a 40-page PDF, and Claude splits it into atomic pages linked to everything he already knows.

Query: he asks anything and it answers from his own notes, in his own words, citing his own pages instead of guessing from training data.

Close the loop: every answer becomes a new note, and the vault sharpens each time he touches it, compounding instead of rotting.

Week 1 was 2000 notes of mostly noise.
Month 2 hit 7,400 with connections firing.
Month 6 became 15,000 notes that argue back.

It beat every $2,000 AI course he ever bought, because his already knew what he knew.
