small criticism for @Brawl_esports: I hope next month the casting is more focused and dictates the game pace. Especially this past weekend with SA and NA, I i feel like there is a fine line between broadcast criticism and hatewatching, and some of the comments went over this line.
there were a lot of very minor mistakes that I felt like the broadcast highlighted too much. obviously NA/SA can be hood as regions and it is your job as a caster to be both analytical and critical of the gameplay, but there were a lot of moments that I felt like they were just dogging on the players without any regard for the fact that this is still the highest level of regional play and there is still a lot of pressure on the players
i don't mind exclamations about mistakes/blunders but when it becomes the bulk of the broadcast it was personally not that enjoyable to watch.
couple examples:
specifically in the AL matches i felt like they were far too harsh on Lipizin. In set 2 agaisnt PZA, they spent 15 seconds after the game ended dogging on his missed hypercharges and in the OS game, i remember them making a big deal about a mortis hypercharge that didn't actually miss (still hit two enemies), the najia just died and he didnt flashy teamwipe after someone dodged the boomerang by popping their hyper for the speed. the callout was something along the lines of "this is a team diff" but AL went on to 3-0 that match. this team is entirely rookies have no real experience and have no major expectations but there was a lot of pressure placed onto them from the casting desk imo and not enough credit for their excellent gameplay + drafting overall against PZA until the match was over.
TE is also obv very good but i felt like they were just discrediting nerf a lot throughout that match but then when it ended they said "props to them for making it here even though they had to reverse sweep lucky gg go next month"
in full transparency SA was a pretty miserable watch for me too icl the level was pretty disappointing this month but i personally thought there was too much emphasis on calling out mistakes instead of recognizing acre lovers or OCX just simply drafting and playing really well until the series was actually over. there wasn't anything blatant like the x9jay incident that I can remember on stream, a lot of the stuff was in the microdecisions of the players not one stupid big blunder.
this is not a one month thing, i've kind of been feeling this way all year and it's a been a lot less enjoyable watching my home region tbh compared to EMEA even though the storylines are exciting once more and we're cycling winners and upsets. idk, maybe it's just me, but I wanted to express that I feel the broadcast this year has gotten far too comfortable with not just being critical, but somewhat mean. players make mistakes, that's the nature of high stakes competition, but you don't need to point it out everytime and sound like a fish out of water when there's a minor miscalculation in the thick of the set. dwelling on one mistake as we enter the next game is not necessary.
love bsc still love everyone on the desk and obv don't want them to NOT be critical at all since calling out mistakes and dissecting what could have gone differently is part of the job for being an enticing host, i just wanted to bring this up as constructive criticism with an understanding the hardships of being a caster on a personal level and with respect that calls are often made from the heart. I personally hope that we can uplift the players a little more in the future on stream so that when they watch it back, they hear how hyped we were for them to make that play rather than missing one super.
(i did not proofread this very heavily and once again this is 100% my opinion and not representative of anyone else. it's just how I felt watching the MFs this weekend while doing graphics on the matches)
