Mexico officially passed legislation to ban the use of marine mammals—including Dolphins, Sea Lions, and others in public shows, entertainment, and therapy programs. 

This action follows years of activism by animal welfare organizations and environmental groups pushing for marine mammal rights and conservation.

The reform, which was passed by Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexican Senate, prohibits the capture, breeding, and commercial use of marine mammals for entertainment purposes, including aquariums and tourist attractions. 

The new law also aims to rehabilitate and relocate animals, especially dolphins, that have been held in captivity. 

Over 350 captive Dolphins are expected to be part of this rehoming effort, with the goal of returning them to their natural habitats or transferring them to marine sanctuaries where release into the wild isn't viable.

This is a major victory for animal rights, especially in a country that has had a robust tourism industry based on dolphinariums and aquatic shows. 

However, the release process is complex and will take time. Many Dolphins in captivity have lived their entire lives outside the ocean, so careful rehabilitation programs are needed to ensure their survival. 

This move represents a shift toward more ethical treatment of marine life and highlights growing public awareness of animal welfare issues.
