Yesterday, @WFP, in partnership with @Mglsd_UG, @OPMUganda & @UNHCRUganda, is scaling the Social Cash Transfer for Elderly Refugees in Oruchinga settlement, Isingiro district.
Refugees aged 80 & above will receive a monthly stipend, aligned to the national senior citizens grant, to support their food & other basic needs.
The programme is being scaled up to all 13 refugee settlements with support from @IrlEmbUganda & @EUinUG.
Uganda's outbreak is over. But its logistics hub remains critical for the DRC #Ebola response ✈️.
From @WFP's staging area at Entebbe International Airport, 1,004 mt of health cargo — PPE, medicines, hospital beds, water and sanitation supplies, treatment tents — has crossed into eastern DRC by air and road for 17 partners, including @AfricaCDC, UN agencies, the Red Cross and NGOs. WFP Uganda has also moved 5,562 mt of food into DRC.

Permanent Secretary Aggrey David Kibenge commended WFP's continued support, while Country Director @WanjaKaaria said the contribution will enhance the effective delivery of social protection programmes — advancing WFP's strategic plan to strengthen Uganda's systems through country-owned solutions.
In #Karamoja, we're scaling malnutrition prevention interventions — and, alongside @UNICEFUganda, @MinofHealthUG, local partners and communities, bringing life-saving treatment closer to families in Moroto, Kotido & Kaabong.
Made possible with support from the @OCHAFunds-managed Uganda Humanitarian Fund.

🇸🇺🇬 Even as drought worsens across #Karamoja, gardens are still green at Pajar Primary School, Kaabong.
Today, the @IcelandinUganda delegation saw pupils tending budding gardens with drought-tolerant, iron-rich beans and vegetables under irrigation, hot meals cooked in fuel-efficient kitchens, & nutrition clubs where children take what they learn back to their communities.
This is all part of the @WFP school meals programme in partnership with @Educ_SportsUg & @OPMUganda, reaching 221,000 children across Karamoja, and supported by Iceland.
Today at Entebbe cargo centre, a joint @StateDept-@CDCgov delegation saw the @WFP & @logcluster support to the Ebola response as critical cargo was loaded for onward movement to DRC, and received a briefing on the regional operation. With U.S. support, WFP is helping keep lifesaving supplies moving where they are needed most.
