San Diego Native, Planner. Tweets are my own. Tweets usually about an increase to the size of the House of Representatives, planning, and SDSU/USC; sorry.
100 percent agree. "Good government demands the intelligent interest of every citizen" is on the building. It should be enabled.
Five (or three) persons having absolute power is not enough. Vacancies and missed meetings show the dysfunction.

Our system of government needs to change at all levels.
When I submitted comments to the now Chair as a constituent to ask for support of a bill at the Federal Level to study U.S. House reps, they never bothered to respond. It would be nice to have a larger House now too.
Is traffic from a crash at 6 am made worse from Pure Water construction? There seems to be construction cones everywhere but never anyone working.
Between the City of SD, SANDAG, and Caltrans is anyone managing the commute or managing traffic?
We deserve better
Yet none of the reforms proposed would increase representation.
That's because they are about consolidating and retaining power, not about us. "Self-serving" indeed.

When they were my Supervisor and I asked them to support an actual bill (REAL House Act) that would increase the size of congress to be more reps @SupLawsonRemer
Office never even esponded.
Good governance, or control? How about more Sups for 3m ppl.

Our government should be more representative of the American people. In a recent Vox interview, I talked about my bill to increase the size of the House, and what we can do to make sure every community has a real voice in Congress.

And how many Senators do we get?
At least if the House was proportionally represented we would get many more than the five we currently have.

What an amazing indictment on how our democracy works. At all levels more representation from actual residents would be better.
In this case paid out of town actors were bussed in to support absentee and investor owners.
Imagine a functional democracy

@fynmere@atrupar Was up there two days ago. Spent four on the stretch. Never felt unsafe. Stores were all busy, vacancies were few. Millennium park was full of happy tourists clearly from both other states and countries.
Wasn't a fan of the House of Reps or daylight savings time originally.
Now that I have been through fall back with a toddler.....I think we should repeal the third amendment and "quarter" all the kids under two in each district into the congresspersons house at 4 am.
Changes to our system make sense.
They shouldn't be considered drastic.
There are solutions to our problems if we work together.

To put it a way Matt Gaetz probably understands...America is tired, we have been partying for a couple hundred years. We are in debt with no apparent plans to get out of it. We broke up and got back together after a bloody war.
Probably should be studied whether sending thousands of misleading hysterical campaign texts and emails to voters led to voter attrition or lowered trust. But I’m sure the democrats wouldn’t learn from that
"There are 538 members of the Electoral College nationwide: one for each state’s members of Congress, and three more for the District of Columbia."
The # of House members isn't fixed. It used to change with each census. Changing it again would be a start

When counting EC votes over the next few days; remember:
The number is completely arbitrary; Sen(100) + House(435) + DC(3) = 538
House size was last changed in 1911, made permanent in 1929. It was supposed to keep increasing.
It could be changed WITHOUT a constitutional amend
