The reason England is doing well while INdia is struggling is because of the conditions. This Indian team has experience wrt conditions in India, but that experience is questionable in English conditions. Besides, the England team has many players from RCB who have carried their form from IPL. Can’t say the same for the Indian players. So, blaming the team in unfair. If needed, blame the management and selection committee.

@BradleyKellard I concur, things got worse after the 2008 financial collapse. The last big VC funded pure play semiconductor was MontalvoSystems that shut shop in 2008. Thanks to the AI revival, we have some money pouring into semiconductors in the last 4-5 years.

@MarkHalperin listened to the show last night. There are many examples where current administration is playing with socialist policies, but taking 10% stake in Intel is not even close. @SteveElmendorf is not correct on this one. Here is why.

First Biden admin give about $10-12B from ChipsAct to Intel and Intel basically pushed the Ohio Chip plan opening by 3-4 years or so. It was supposed to be operational on 2027-28, now it is pushed to 2030-31. All this happened during Biden administration.

Trump admin taking 10% stake is akin to VCs taking equity for their investment. This is better than what govts have done in the past with bailout. Now, this investment is worth > 5x. So the govt has made money for the country (for a change), question is can the govt sell the equity. If that happens, it’s a sound investment.

There seem to be multiple references to Indic influence in South east Asia as early as 200-300 AD. I don’t think these were driven by missionary or conquest. It was probably the desire by the royal families in these regions to adopt the religion to differentiate from the locals. Most of population adopted Hinduism because the royal families adopted the religion.

The right comparison would be what was China’s investment in education when they were a 4T economy. I am sure they were higher than the 12B number, but this sort of investment is not linear. At initial stages, investments will be tight with demands from other segments, like defense, basic infrastructure and poverty. As the GDP grows, investments in education and health sectors will increase at faster rate.

A minor correction, Sri Vaishnavas differed from the philosophy of Advaita forming a new system. It was only later the advaitins, particularly in TN, aligned with Saivism (resulting in bifurcation of smartha community into Iyer and Iyengar). Generally Advaita is also considered as a Vaishnava system. On the other hand, Siddars were always staunch saivaits, just like Lingayats in KA, they don’t follow the. Advaita philosophy.

Yes, Sri Ramanuja and his followers converted many Jains and Buddhists to Vaishnavism (king Vishnuvaradan is a good example) which is different from conversion from one school of philosophy to another within the Vedanta system.

In recent times ISCON has taken on the proselytizing in a meaningful way.

This is very normal, especially when the listings are up and buyers are few. This is true across Texas and most realtors would know their area, prospective buyer and their preferences. If your goal is for a quick sale at or above asking price, follow the realtor’s advice. Period. They are getting 2-3% in commission, so they have vested interest in selling the house, no point in making it difficult for them in a down market.

US will dangle F35s and India may buy a few, but in reality, it will be a token purchase for optics. The reason is F35 cannot be integrated with any other defense systems. For instance, They cannot be integrated electronically with, say, Russian made ground radar systems. They will not be effective in an active conflict, maybe good for show and tell.
