Today @MooreFound announced support of 16 experimental physicists. It’s a great honor to be selected. Gordon Moore shaped our society w/ Intel & Moore’s Law, and he & his wife continue their impact through the foundation. #moorephysics@okstate@OSU_CEAT

Congrats to my PhD student Chris Petrin on his recent paper in @Sensors_MDPI on optimizing sparse acoustic arrays using a genetic algorithm (NSGA-II). @okstate_MAE@okstate@CEATResearch

The USS Oklahoma (SSN-802) crew, a Virginia-class sub, visited @okstate yesterday. They've visisted multiple times, but this was the first time I was on campus at the same time. I miss doing @USNavy research, so it's fund to share my lab and some past stories w/ them @okstate_MAE
@itoms_lindaw @ConversationUS@okstate@okstate_MAE@OSU_CEAT @itoms_lindaw I think one of the interesting observations when looking at the whole was identifying when the signal reflected off of some surfaces and not others. This makes it a rather informative observations for studying how these sounds can propagate in the atmosphere
Recent article from @ConversationUS which focuses on some of our work on geophysical observations during the OSIRIS-REx reentry. @okstate@okstate_MAE@OSU_CEAT

My PhD student Garrett Terry (https://t.co/fYABpLArrp) just publishing an @ASA_POMA article presenting preliminary results showing latent heat can amplify turbulent noise. @acousticsorg@okstate_MAE@okstate@MooreFound

Honored to be the recipient of the 2025 @OSU_CEAT Excellent Faculty Award (senior category because I'm getting old). Also congrats to fellow @okstate_MAE awardees including Dr. Kursat Kara (Excellent Junior Faculty) and Dr. Arena (Dean's Leadership Excellence Award).
Congrats to @forrealkc1 on his recent publication in @SeismoSocietyAm Seismological Research Letters comparing infrasound observations between the OSIRIS-REx reentry and Genesis/Stardust entries. https://t.co/LSe8aesW7G #SRL@OSU_CEAT@okstate_MAE@okstate
Our paper, led by Zeeshan Saeed, on the influence of the Weissenberg number within a polymer modified (drag reduced) turbulent boundary layer was published in @PhysRevFluids today. We created uniform Wi within a developing TBL and measured the velocity:

Congrats to the newest cohort of the @MooreFound EPI fellows. I got the pleasure to meet a few of you already at this years convening, but look forward to hearing more about your research next year!
🚀 We're excited to announce the 2024 Experimental Physics Investigators! 🎉 These 19 researchers will receive $1.25M each to explore new and uncharted areas. Learn more about their groundbreaking work: https://t.co/WiWO727ccx #MoorePhysics#ScienceFunding
I can't believe it's been 20 yrs since I worked w/ Dr. Allan Zuckerwar @NASA Langley, where he taught me acoustics. It produced my 1st journal article. I owe so much to this man as it shape the direction of grad school for me and told me I should measure the sound from a tornado.
The roar of a tornado is often compared with the rumble of a freight train. Here’s what makes the twister’s sound—and how some scientists hope to use low frequencies to detect the storms. https://t.co/RB5WLGtRcx https://t.co/RB5WLGtRcx
.@SilberAstrum and myself wrote a short article for @ConversationUS about the team of researchers that recorded infrasound and other signals from the NASA OSIRIS-REx reentry in Sept of 2023. https://t.co/EaQEKMHWSm
Congrats to @forrealkc1 for publishing his second publication. This one examines the impact of a serrated edge to mitigate the adverse effects from a backward facing step on a laminar boundary layer. @FluidsMdpi
