Just shipped a PR wiring push notifications into an existing comms system.

100% Ruby. Millions of lines. Dense business logic, complex deps, non-obvious behavior. I had no prior knowledge of the system, nor deep Ruby experience.

A few months ago this would’ve taken days (or weeks) to fully grasp, design, and implement.

Today, with AI? Under an hour. I focused on requirements and integration points — Codex handled the rest.

If someone says AI “isn’t a thing”… take that with a huge grain of salt.

And I feel I should say thank you to @steipete for being an enormous inspiration for me to explore the depths of AI-driven development (though looking at what you do Peter I feel like I'm gazillion years behind!)

Last version of Deckset that I shipped was packed with a massive amount of new features.

A lot of this was possible thanks to how amazing AI and Codex is. I would never dream of being able to ship so fast (and this is just part of what I've been cooking over last 2 months) for a personal side project.

If you're still holding out on the AI coding assistants - do give them a try, maybe they'll click with and your codebase! (They certainly did with mine!).

The mermaid.js integration was extremely fun and interesting to build 🎉 especially given it works on both iOS and macOS using the exact same code
