‘TRABAHO NA LANG TAYO’
Sen. Erwin Tulfo on Sunday, June 7, appealed for unity in the Senate and apologized for his earlier remarks suggesting the arrest and forcible removal of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano from the session hall amid the chamber’s leadership dispute.
In a Facebook post, Tulfo admitted that his statements were inappropriate for a senator and were made out of frustration over legislative work being stalled by infighting. He also asked the public for forgiveness, saying Filipinos were the real losers as important measures failed to advance because of the deadlock.
“Tama na ang pagkakawatak-watak. Trabaho na lang tayo,” Tulfo said, urging his colleagues to set aside personal interests, focus on lawmaking and investigations, and work together to restore the Senate’s integrity.

‘RISA NA’
Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV backs the “Risa Na! Movement,” launched to support Sen. Risa Hontiveros's possible 2028 presidential bid, citing her educational background, advocacies, and pre-election surveys by the Magdalo showing that a growing number of Filipinos favor Hontiveros for president.

SENATOR ALAN CAYETANO: CUT AND CUT CLEANLY
I agree with the position of Senator Frank Drilon that there is a presumption of regularity in the declaration of all Senate positions vacant, including that of former Senate President Alan Cayetano.
Alan knows this.
That is why he has not gone to the Supreme Court to challenge his removal.
Because at the heart of this latest Senate coup lies a reality that extends beyond questions of quorum, procedure, or parliamentary technicalities. The real issue is who has the numbers to control the Senate.
And even assuming for the sake of argument that the Supreme Court were to rule in Alan’s favor, what then?
On the first day of session, there would simply be another motion declaring all positions vacant. This time, there would be 13 votes.
The reality is that parliamentary power ultimately rests not on titles but on numbers.
Indeed, the issue may be resolved even sooner if the President calls a special session of Congress. If Alan has only ten votes and if reports are accurate that he may lose yet another supporter, on what basis can he continue to claim the Senate Presidency?
The larger lesson for Senator Alan Cayetano and for the country is this:
In a democracy, institutions are bigger than the ambitions of any one leader.
No office belongs to any individual. Every position is held only so long as one retains the confidence of those empowered to confer it.
Legitimacy does not come from clinging to office. It comes from retaining the confidence of those empowered to choose their leaders.
This is why democratic institutions endure. Leaders come and go but institutions must continue to function regardless of the fortunes of any one person.
When the numbers are gone, the title eventually follows.
The wise course now is not to prolong the contest but to accept the verdict of the numbers.
Therefore, I beseech you, Senator Alan Cayetano. Let the institution move forward. Cut and cut cleanly.
'SO, WHAT IS HE?'

I stand fully behind Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr.
Filipinos are a grateful people. We do not forget genuine help, and we say salamat when thanks is due. But gratitude is not a price tag on our sovereignty. No vaccine, no shipment of fertilizer, and no infrastructure project buys the right to violate our rights in the West Philippine Sea, to harass our fishermen, or to aim water cannons and military-grade lasers at our Coast Guard vessels.
The Secretary did not “bite the hand that feeds.” He simply refused to let that hand cover our eyes while the other hand takes what is ours under UNCLOS and the 2016 Arbitral Award. To question whether long-term good faith exists is not ingratitude — it is honesty.
And if assistance is given only so it can later be waved in our faces to demand our silence, then it was never kindness to begin with — it was leverage. True kindness is never thrown back as a debt. The moment help is turned into a weapon, it ceases to be kindness and becomes coercion.
China is most welcome to be a true friend of the Philippines. But a true friend does not ask you to surrender your sovereignty and sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea as the price of friendship.
WHAT IS HE?
Sen. Ping Lacson questioned Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano's position in a post on X on Sunday, June 7, amid the ongoing leadership dispute in the Senate.
“The Executive Department, House of Representatives, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, law deans, law professors, former Senate presidents and many others do not recognize Senator Alan Cayetano as the President of the Senate. So, what is he?” Lacson wrote.
The post comes days after the Integrated Bar of the Philippines declared the June 3 Senate reorganization by a 12-member quorum “lawful and valid,” citing the 1949 Avelino v. Cuenco ruling.
Former Senate presidents Franklin Drilon and Aquilino Pimentel III have also backed the move that installed Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian as Senate president pro tempore and acting Senate president.

I am convinced for the millionth time that the Japanese are truly incredible people. They are pure gold. 🇯🇵
Friends, this smiling young man is Takao Tainaka.
He comes from distant and beautiful Japan.
When the full-scale war began in Ukraine, Takao simply could not stand aside and watch our tragedy unfold. Without a second thought, he traveled more than 10,000 kilometers to help Ukraine.
Upon arriving, he immediately connected with several volunteer organizations and began working as a volunteer. In that role, he risked his own safety to deliver aid and visit some of the most dangerous areas near the front line.
Later, he made a difficult but completely conscious and courageous decision — to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces. ⚔️
Tainaka became a member of the AFU and is currently serving as an ordinary infantry soldier.
It is an incredible story.
A story of true courage, bravery, and an extraordinary strength of spirit.
He left behind the peace and prosperity of Japan to help defend our Ukrainian homeland.
So there is only one thing I can say:
Thank you.
Thank you, my friend.
Thank you sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts and from the heart of the Ukrainian people. 🫂🇺🇦🇯🇵
