Do you get your history from the DaVinci Code? The council of Nicea did not determine Christianity by imperial force. Read the writings of the ante-Nicean fathers. Also, the existence of disagreement does not negate that the truth exists. I'm guessing you must be agnostic not atheist right?

I always hesitate to call someone a 'grifter' or assume they have dishonest intentions, even with people I disagree with strongly. Most people come to their convictions honestly. Have you ever looked up where that number comes from Karl or do you just repeat things without understanding them? First off, it divides each denomination into ~200 denominations by claiming each country has its own 'demonination' within that denomination. Second off, this includes everything from the biggest groups to the smallest groups. Third and finally, do you have so little knowledge of Christianity that you honestly think most of them serve completely different Jesus's?

Christians don't believe that prophets or disciples are perfect, only God is perfect. When Jesus came as the Messiah, it was in a way the Jewish people didn't expect. The Jews expected a conquering king but they got a suffering servant. When Jesus died the disciples didn't understand this until he appeared to them risen from the dead. In the bible, people write about their sins and shortcomings all the time and they don't try to hide them or justify them.

Wow. First off, 'thousands of years of translations done by different cultures who put their spin on it'. Look up the transmission history of the bible. It has not been manipulated and majorly changed over time. We have fragments that are 1800+ years old and full copies that are 1500+ years old. Guess what? It was the same message then that it is now. No big conspiracy. Yes, people have manipulated others and used God's word for evil. Guess who killed the most people in the 20th century? Atheist regimes. And what is this about cave paintings and ancestors? So you do believe in spiritual things but only the ones written on stone rather than paper? Believe what you want but don't lie about the history of manuscripts. It makes you look like a fool.

@RojanDominic @MikeWingerii You have some serious studying to do if you think the Reformation was started because the Reformers were 'self-righteousness'. On the contrary they were preaching that no one is righteous and we are incapable of even contributing to our salvation. It is all God.

You are simply ignorant if you think all EO are united and all Protestants are hopelessly disunified. You know that Protestants from all denominations will preach the gospel together? You know most of them don't condemn each other to hell for disagreeing about non-essential doctrines? As a lifelong Protestant I have been to many churches of different denominations. We have a shared faith in Christ. I believe you also have a shared faith in Christ. However, you've been told it's evil to not bow to icons (something foreign to the early church) and many other things that have been added to your church. Ignatius, Augustine, even John of Damascus didn't believe exactly what any of your Eastern Orthodox churches believe today.

My advice is to humble yourself and look at the world honestly. Protestants are the ones converting Muslims, Hindus, and others to Christ. Do you HONESTLY think the early church looked like any of the EO churches do today? If so, great, then start spreading the gospel in the difficult places like Protestants are because 'the harvest is ready and the workers are few'.
