@teachergoals Yes, but I bet the Texas governor and his posey would rather see us start Monday with less than $10k and give it to the so called free choice charter schools that don’t have to play by the same rules. My 2 cents.
Proud to see all the Texas Teachers, Coaches and Administrators on Twitter letting @GovAbbott know we are done with his lies about our great profession. NO to vouchers! FUND OUR SCHOOLS!
@Brad_Carpenter Agree, but NOT on the lack of any type of compensation. You know and I know we teachers need it, deserve it, and should be compensated. Unless you feel none of the above?
Interview with a teacher who left the profession.
Why did you leave?
“I have a Master’s degree.
I work really hard.
I love teaching kids and am great at my job.
I do it all for a disgracefully low salary.
All of that and I’ve never felt so disrespected by so many.”

To all educators across the state, you are the only state employees not getting a raise, our state values you less than school choice vouchers. Please see this letter from @KingForTexas regarding efforts in the house. @GregAbbott_TX promised to fully fund public schools. He failed
You're right, governor. It does belong to Texans: the 650,000 Texans who work in our public schools and the 5.5 million Texas children who attend them.
Why aren't we using that historic budget to pass the largest public education funding boost in Texas history?

A $2K bonus for Texas teachers? $0 for support staff? This isn't respect. It's a slap in the face.
The Texas Senate needs to fix #SB9 to give certified staff at least a $10,000 raise & at least a 15% raise for support staff.

Questions nobody has answered …
If public schools are “failing” and private schools are “successful” then why don’t they modify public school requirements to match private schools?
No STAAR
No financial reporting
No accountability system
No SPED compliance
Gov. @GregAbbott_TX says school vouchers are about "freedom" for families. But whose freedom? In pitching vouchers, the governor only ever appears at expensive private Christian schools.

There is no ‘teacher shortage’. There are thousands of qualified experiences teachers who are no longer teaching. There’s a shortage of respect and proper compensation for teachers allowing them to actually teach.
