JD Vance, who has been criticising Britain and our democracy for months, climbed from obscurity to power thanks to one man: tech billionaire Peter Thiel.

Thiel’s main UK interests centre on #Palantir Technologies, which he co-founded and chairs, and which has become deeply embedded in British public services, with London serving as its European defence headquarters.

Through Palantir, Thiel’s biggest UK contracts include a £240 million Ministry of Defence deal signed in late 2025 for AI and data analytics, and a £330 million #NHS Federated Data Platform contract, contributing to total UK government deals exceeding £500–670 million across defence, health, policing and other sectors.

He also maintains political ties, including with Nigel Farage, has regular meetings with Blue Labour’s Maurice Glasman, and he has invested in several UK companies via his funds, most notably Wise (TransferWise).

In August 2019 (shortly after Boris Johnson became PM), Johnson and his then-chief adviser Dominic Cummings met Thiel at No. 10 Downing Street. The meeting was marked "private" in internal logs and not disclosed in official transparency records. It occurred months before Palantir secured significant NHS contracts during the COVID-19 response.

As the Wall Street Journal revealed in 2023, Epstein repeatedly sought meetings with Thiel, even inviting him to lunch with Russia’s ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin. When Churkin died suddenly in 2017, Epstein wrote directly to Thiel to tell him the news that “My Russian ambassador friend died…”

Peter Mandelson’s firm Global Counsel represented Palantir, and he facilitated Starmer’s Palantir visit while ambassador. Mandelson has long been part of overlapping elite networks involving Thiel.

Anyway, this 5-minute video on the real story of how Thiel funded and promoted JD Vance at every step of his career is by investigative author, Gil Duran.

Under Thiel’s tutelage, Vance became a venture capitalist, a Catholic, a Trump supporter, a political kingpin, a US Senator, and US VP (full transcript in the next tweet).

Gil Duran (formerly @gilduran76) has been permanently banned/suspended from @X since around early May 2026). Multiple reports and posts indicate he was banned after replying to or criticizing a #Palantir manifesto (from Alex Karp) by calling it "fascism" or similar.

A bird hits your window, drops, and lies there limp. Before you assume the worst: a lot of the time, it's not dead, it's just stunned.

What actually finishes it off is the cat that finds it lying there helpless. So buy it time. Set a colander over it, upside down, right where it landed. The holes let it breathe and see out, and nothing can reach it while it comes around.

Two things to think about though: Keep it in the shade, never the sun, because a metal colander in direct light turns into an oven and you'll cook the bird you're trying to save. And don't walk off and forget it. Lift the colander every fifteen minutes, and the second it's alert, let it go.

Don't feed it, don't try to give it water, and don't handle it more than you have to. If it's still down after a couple of hours, or a wing is hanging wrong, it's hurt worse than time can fix. Call a wildlife rehabber.

Healey wanted to increase defence spending by £28bn/year from
£61bn to approx £89bn. That's an increase of 40%!

It was an ABSURD ask - UK would be the fourth largest military spender in the world after US, China and Russia.

Vast amounts of that would be siphoned off by rapacious, price-gouging contractors in the most corrupt industry in the world. And none of it would help - in fact, it would mostly worsen - the biggest threat to global security, which is climate change.

The right wing press will try and present Healey's ask as eminently reasonable, but it was a ludicrous cash grab at the same time that were cutting overseas aid, climate change mitigation and welfare spending.
