Returning to twitter to follow the conversation around #DHJewish - just reading the conference program I'm so impressed by the international reach and diversity of digital approaches in play!
Somehow I haven't gotten tired of postcards yet - made this dream vacation list for a postcard enthusiast/time traveler for #LauderTuck https://t.co/9E8PYXMSzi
...where they could find other related digital resources, dive deeper into the collections, and also check out some of the other wide variety of materials at the library. Maybe digital can be a gateway to every other kind of resource from a well-rounded library! (2/2) #LauderTuck
Reading "Manufacturing Impact" for #LauderTuck I loved being able to see how people used images from the public domain collection of @nypl for their own work. Curious if those re-uses end up leading users back to the collection website... (1/2)
Seriously, I can't believe I had not used .@OpenRefine before this #LauderTuck internship with @NewberryLibrary . Having this tool would have helped so much in the past and it will help so much in the future!
Feeling #blessed to be part of the #LauderTuck internship and being guided through how to wrangle data by people who a) know what they're doing, b) know how to explain it clearly, and c) know how to re-purpose postcards from the 20th century. Thank you @NewberryLibrary!
...and today marks 80 years since the November Pogroms #kristallnacht80 which destroyed property owned by individual Jews and the Jewish community, including the Munich synagogue on this postcard. #LauderTuck

On a more serious note, seeing synagogues of German cities on postcards in the #LauderTuck collection is a powerful reminder in the wake of the shooting in Pittsburgh of the history of synagogues as places of beauty and pride and very much a part of urban landscapes.

I had no idea just how popular donkey-riding on the beach was, but I think this may be the 345th postcard I've seen in #LauderTuck showing a picture of the activity. Adding it to my vacation to-do list for next summer!
Exploring transcription projects for #LauderTuck internship. I loved that Beyond Words from @LC_Labs gives you the option to do different tasks - sometimes you want to mark, other times transcribe, and even verify! Great to see how volunteer work moves data through this process
...when data generated on a crowdsourcing platform becomes formal metadata (traditional catalog, finding aid, etc). If it just stays there, separate from how the resources would be accessed the rest of the time, it kind of seems like a waste of volunteer brilliance! #LauderTuck
Reading about Zooniverse from D-Lib Mag. for #LauderTuck internship, I love that volunteers could supply their own tags and groupings as a part of "Talk" on the platform. Curious about if/when/how/why that information would be saved... (1/2)
#laudertuck @TaliaRocks5 Curious if this means projects should try to identify and engage with those "super" volunteers in targeted ways and if the motivation for those people differs from the other motivational factors that Holley listed.
@TaliaRocks5 that boggled my mind, too! And even among those top contributors, there was a big difference - for example, in Figure 27 the top user "eatmypoverty" (what a handle) did almost twice as much as the second highest contributor!
Reading Holley's piece on crowdsourcing for #LauderTuck and thinking of what has changed since 2010. For one, social media! Now it's so easy to share projects beyond host websites & to find more participants, but it also means that it can connect to other crowdsourcing projects.
@CrowdsourceJM#LauderTuck and now I checked my email and saw the message re: transcribing. Thank you for being so on top of things in communicating with us!
@CrowdsourceJM#LauderTuck I was transcribing and was ready for the next postcard to get to my weekly goal when the "finished" red box appeared (fittingly with a triumphant-looking man). Does this mean that transcribing is finished? (ps - thanks in advance for your help!)
