So, I guess tonight is my last night transcribing postcards for @NewberryLibrary I had a lot of fun learning about the #laudertuck collection and transcribing all the cool cards. I also enjoyed the #picturepostcardamerica collection as well. Thanks for the opportunity!
Somehow I haven't gotten tired of postcards yet - made this dream vacation list for a postcard enthusiast/time traveler for #LauderTuck https://t.co/9E8PYXMSzi
...where they could find other related digital resources, dive deeper into the collections, and also check out some of the other wide variety of materials at the library. Maybe digital can be a gateway to every other kind of resource from a well-rounded library! (2/2) #LauderTuck
Reading "Manufacturing Impact" for #LauderTuck I loved being able to see how people used images from the public domain collection of @nypl for their own work. Curious if those re-uses end up leading users back to the collection website... (1/2)
Here is my storymap about Route 66 https://t.co/TK20I3g0iB #LauderTuck
Hello #LauderTuck friends. Here's my version of this week's storymap assignment. I had a lot of fun making this, and I am really excited to go home for Thanksgiving. I look forward to seeing everything you all make! https://t.co/oOXQWk9yxF

If you need any last minute desserts for Thanksgiving, here is a corn and chicken shape ice cream! #LauderTuck @NewberryLibrary

A picture of postcards made it onto a postcard! #LauderTuck @NewberryLibrary https://t.co/o8MvAIsiXy

After many months, I finally started a full-time job! Now getting back into the rhythm of things. It is a bit hard, and I'm exhausted. This postcard describes perfectly how I'm currently feeling. #LauderTuck #sleep #keepgoing

"perhaps unimaginable today—in the age of instantaneous and inexpensive communication—is how popular and important postcards were at the turn of the twentieth century." https://t.co/hPoYmx2EUA #LauderTuck

Proper and precise labels make wrangling large amounts of metadata and/or baby penguins so much more manageable - as illustrated by Nurse Guinnipen here, and as our #LauderTuck are learning this week: https://t.co/YwzkFeowQs

Seriously, I can't believe I had not used .@OpenRefine before this #LauderTuck internship with @NewberryLibrary . Having this tool would have helped so much in the past and it will help so much in the future!
Feeling #blessed to be part of the #LauderTuck internship and being guided through how to wrangle data by people who a) know what they're doing, b) know how to explain it clearly, and c) know how to re-purpose postcards from the 20th century. Thank you @NewberryLibrary!

I never know what to write on a postcard. I wish they were all like this #laudertuck

...and today marks 80 years since the November Pogroms #kristallnacht80 which destroyed property owned by individual Jews and the Jewish community, including the Munich synagogue on this postcard. #LauderTuck
On a more serious note, seeing synagogues of German cities on postcards in the #LauderTuck collection is a powerful reminder in the wake of the shooting in Pittsburgh of the history of synagogues as places of beauty and pride and very much a part of urban landscapes.

I did find Beyond Words relatively easy to use. I really enjoyed that the historical newspaper that they used is from Chronicling America. I actually clicked on Wisconsin, because I was part of the project that help with the process of putting them online. #LauderTuck

I had no idea just how popular donkey-riding on the beach was, but I think this may be the 345th postcard I've seen in #LauderTuck showing a picture of the activity. Adding it to my vacation to-do list for next summer!

Reading, "Transforming Libraries and Archives through Crowdsourcing," many points stood out to me, but one of those points is the phrase "cognitive surplus" used by Clay Shirky. Clay mentions how we have one trillion hours of leisure time (p. 2). (1/5) #LauderTuck
