The best people to take advice from on raising children are people who have good relationships with their kind, competent, and well-balanced adult children. If that’s all not there then I don’t really care much for the opinion.
The one person in the entire world that God most wants you to help - your husband - is the same person the enemy most wants you to accuse.
Be aware of this.
Too many people spend months planning the wedding and only hours planning the marriage.
Before you say "I do," discuss finances, parenting, faith, family, childhood baggage, intimacy, career goals, health, and how you'll raise your children.
Chemistry starts a relationship. Alignment is what keeps it together.
I stopped taking new patients a long time ago. But when I start again, realize the prescriptions you get from me are likely to be for sunlight, exercise, stress mitigation, proper sleep, and JESUS.
Evangelical coffee shops are quietly carrying the flame for the old high-end hipster coffee shops of yesteryear, leaving libtard coffee shops in the dust

At the playground, my 8 year-old went straight for the basketball court, and I cringed when I saw him head right in with his own basketball to join a couple of cool-looking teenage boys who were already playing.
In mom-like fashion, I thought, "Oh, man, they're going to be so annoyed. They're not going to be nice to him, and his feelings are going to get hurt."
I kept glancing over to see how it was going and was surprised to see them tossing the ball back to my son when it got away from him and interacting with him a little bit.
Then after a while, my 4 year-old decided to join, and I thought, "Now, this is too much." I called for him to come back to me, saying, "That's a big boy game."
To my further surprise, the younger teen said, "No, that's ok. We're gonna play 2 on 2, and he'll be my teammate." I was somewhat stunned to watch both young men being incredibly patient, passing the ball to my sons, cheering for them, and giving advice on how to play.
Later, as they left the court to join their family, I thanked them for their kindness and noticed one son was wearing a cross around his neck and another had on a Christian t-shirt. And suddenly, it all made sense. Those were young men who'd been raised to treat others the way they would want to be treated, and it was a beautiful thing to see.
There’s a John Deere Kids YouTube channel that’s basically just real tractors and farmers doing actual work, and it seems infinitely preferable for toddlers to watch than the hyper-optimized “kids” content that dominates YouTube
Stanford tested two ways of giving feedback to students. Group one got standard comments. Group two got the same comments with one added sentence: "I'm giving you these comments because I have very high expectations and I know you can reach them."
Group two improved at four times the rate as group one, despite having the same correction.
Give your children the gift of high expectations.
advice i heard from a psychologist:
if you’re an anxious person, do everything for fun.
submit your resume for fun. go to a job interview for fun. start a newsletter for fun.
anxiety feeds on importance. don’t make everything a matter of life & death.
This is your reminder to find a good woman, marry her and start making babies. This is where you build true wealth and a legacy. When you die, their faces are what you’ll see. NOT a boat, a nicer car, a fancier job title or a bigger house. Their faces. ❤️
This line from Atomic Habits isn't ready to leave my head:
"It doesn't make sense to continue wanting something if you're not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don't want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment."
