Congrats Ghana's coffin maker Kane Kwae (Paa Joe) for 50 years of coffin making fantasies and artistry. Today in 1976, he opened his own shop in Nungua, Ghana. He brought the art of “fantasy coffin” design to new heights, custom-making coffins that reflect the lifelong interests of his clients. After mentoring younger coffin designers and creating an industry for novelty coffins shaped like fish, airplanes, shoes, mobile phones, etc., he has had his work featured in exhibits worldwide.
I think what we do with ai is build the best fastest super ai possible but we keep it airgapped in a dungeon and every day someone brings it terabytes of data on hard drives and says “chow time, robot slave.” And then we say “cure for cancer please” and it prints it on laser jet
I am here in NE #Syria to see how the community is doing after 200+ airstrikes from #Turkey targeting water & electrical plants, schools, hospitals & other critical civilian infrastructure.
As you can see, they destroyed this electrical plant. Because of bombings like this, over 2 million people are without water or electricity, with 48 people killed, including women & children.
Just days ago, President Erdogan had the audacity to ask, “what happened to human rights” complaining that #Gaza is without water & electricity, suggesting hospitals & schools have been targeted.
Yet here in NE Syria, HE is the one who has destroyed water & electrical plants, hospitals & schools. Where is the international outrage?
They are our allies in the fight against ISIS & have built a democracy & pluralistic society that welcomes all religious & ethnic communities as equal citizens with half the leaders being women. This is how to build peace & stability in the region.
It is important that the US & international community stand with them & against Turkey’s continued attacks.
#BREAKING: the U.S. scrambled an F-15 jet to shoot down an #Iran drone that appeared to be heading towards U.S. forces in Erbil, #Iraq, on Wednesday. “This was a significant incident,” one of the officials said.

@64Eli3 Looks like it’s taken from/around Chateaumere looking north over the golf course…these photos are really helpful in getting a sense of the damage at Pelican Bay. Please keep sharing. Much appreciated and stay safe!
Please take a minute to watch brave Iranian women stand up to their authoritarian, theocratic government.
Iranian women have had enough of the control and abuse and there are many Iranian men who are standing with them.

The operative word here is choose.
Many people do not want to do business with a country or people they cannot visit. It’s an issue of both practicality and respect.
I have absolutely seen business lost to Russia, Turkey, Dubai, and China over exactly this issue.
For all its talk of wielding economic and soft power in great-power competition, the least @StateDept can do is facilitate visas on a reasonable timeline.
The visa debacle is a key reason foreigners choose to go non-US for business, leisure, and education.
Friend just pinged me. Needs to visit California from Nairobi for meeting with investor next month. Next visa appointment: June 2024.
The US visa system is literally broken @SecBlinken@VisaLimbo 👇🏽
The story of the Taiwanese flag patch on Maverick's bomber jacket is a microcosm of the entire relationship between the most powerful cultural industry in America and the world’s would-be hegemon.

Just arrived in NE #Syria & stunned to hear Erdogan announce he may invade again. Glad to hear US speak against.
How can an invasion targeting civilians with killings, rape & kidnappings be considered a war crime in #Ukraine but be ok when #Turkey does the same here in NE Syria?
@rawaz For now, solar energy isn’t very practical for Iraq for one simple reason: dust.
Significant water (and labor) is required to clean and operate them. The tech for waterless cleaning is coming, but not on the market yet.
Good to see import fees coming down though!
