NEWS: According to the New York Times, some Democrats are proposing a plan to overturn the state’s Supreme Court ruling that invalidated the referendum:
1) Invoke the circuit court ruling that invalidated the referendum due to county officials not posting notice of it at courthouses 3 months before the election to invalidate the 2020 constitutional amendment that created the independent redistricting commission by arguing that the courthouses also did not post notice of it at the time either.
2) Lower the mandatory retirement age for justices from 75 to 54 (or less). That would remove every justice on the court. The Democratic majority in the legislature can then appoint 7 new justices.
3) Democrats would then be able to redraw the map.

It would be great if the folks who pushed independent commissions a decade ago in mostly blue states would acknowledge they didn't see how GOP would hack this system.
More than three million Virginians cast their ballots in Virginia’s redistricting referendum, and the majority of Virginia voters voted to push back against a President who said he is ‘entitled’ to more Republican seats in Congress with a temporary and responsive referendum. They made their voices heard.
I am disappointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia’s ruling, but my focus as Governor will be on ensuring that all voters have the information necessary to make their voices heard this November in the midterm elections because in those elections we — the voters — will have the final say.
No vote in Tennessee (+1 GOP)
No vote in Florida (+4 GOP)
No vote in Missouri (+1 GOP)
No vote in North Carolina (+2 GOP)
No vote in Texas (+5 GOP)
Virginia’s voter-approved maps thrown out.
MAGA has rigged the system.
Democrats forced Republicans to cave on ICE funding from the minority. Surely the people screaming daily for them to DO SOMETHING will acknowledge this win.
Blue states must begin the work now, whether it’s repealing amendments or calling special sessions, to redraw their congressional maps for the national interest. We will win this; but it must happen with urgency.
Rep. Jeffries: "The comment related to 'maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time,' in connection with the redistricting battle that Republicans launched, I stand by it. You can continue to criticize me for it. I don't give a damn about your criticism."
Remember when Republicans drew Virginia's Congressional map so Black people were packed into one district and said we should be grateful they gave our community this district. NOW they can have one district and see how much they love it.
Virginia voters have spoken, and tonight they pushed back against a President who claims he is ‘entitled’ to more Republican seats in Congress.
As we watched other states go along with those demands without voter input, Virginians refused to let that stand. We responded the right way: at the ballot box.
Mills reacts to Elizabeth Warren campaigning with Graham Platner in Portland tonight:
"I think it's ironic that Mr. Platner from day one has been complaining about my age, when he campaigns with someone a year and a half younger than I am, and with another individual who is six years older than I am.
I mean, if it's good for the goose, it's good for the gander."
Crooked Media could put their money where their mouth is and give him his own podcast on their network, but then they'd be responsible for what he says, and that kind of risk is for other people.
That's a lot of words not to deal with the essential truth: Never Trumpers disagree with policy but see the existential risk of Trump to democracy so they voted for Kamala. Piker saw the same facts and didn't.
I know that people have their complaints but overall, House Democratic leadership has done a great job leveraging the very small amount of power they can wield. They’ve effectively stolen the floor from Johnson on multiple occasions
