10 years after Merkel opened the borders, 72% of Germans now say their country’s social stability is gone.

Confidence in the economy has collapsed, trust in public safety is in freefall, and nearly half the country feels unsafe in parks, streets, and transit.

Among women, 53% say they feel afraid just walking outside. That number has more than doubled since 2017.

Now only 1 in 4 Germans believes their children have a safe future, and support for the populist AfD is surging as a result.
