@slamup I wouldn't say hostile, but in line to vote the man standing uncomfortably close to me (even for a non-pandemic situation) made a comment about how he "can't believe people are still wearing masks". People like you are the reason people like me still wear masks, creepy man.
@JessHealyWalton@eileenchongpoet For festivals, A. It's the easiest to crop, which helps the people who have to make photos look good & consistent on their website.
@RuthJSinger @JM_Field5 the same as when misogynists say they "love women" - they enjoy observing them as long as they are not challenged by them in any way.
@shinyhunter_map@della79@VivienneWriter Thank you! I never would have found it without this. And indeed, only saw the face at first. (It didn't help that I assumed snow leopards would be.. snow coloured?)
@ohnoitskelley Absolutely agree, and also even stuff that can be made on a machine still has people running those machines. Everything is made by a human at some level and if it seems cheap, those people probably aren’t being paid a living wage.
@ElyKreimendahl I’d love to see more advice for how men can soften their tone. When typically feminine ways of speaking are judged as less authoritative, why is the response for women to change, instead of the culture to change to be more accommodating? (I know why)
@mrbenjaminlaw Being pregnant then a parent of a baby in a pandemic: Needing regular doctor's appointments that you aren't allowed if you've recently experienced nausea or fatigue, i.e. every day for two years :[
@VGCatano @AnaMardoll My take as well, note that the other siblings were not allowed access to the candle. I think it's why Abuela and Mirabel clash, Mirabel is Abuela's successor as keeper of the candle/house and therefore the most like her.
@kmcg2375@slamup An example: a school I worked at specified leather shoes in the uniform policy. When Q'd they admitted this was completely unenforceable, they just had to be all black.
@kmcg2375@slamup Assuming there's an honest attempt at something similar. Schools have an easier time telling students what they can't wear, eg no denim or no piercings etc.
I’m an Island girl (Torres Strait Islander/Tongan) from both sides, I know and have seen the effects of climate change, I have been told stories about what our lands looked like before from my old people… colonisers continue to gaslight our reality that they don’t have to live
