My biggest hope is as clinicians, you will incorporate the “Explain-Name-Validate” framework into your interactions with patients and their families and teach it to your colleagues and students.

What’s going on with pharmacies no longer reliably stocking Covid shots or Paxlovid?
Only one pharmacist in #hamont had Covid shots when I called around a couple months back. Now none I’m talking to are replacing expired Paxlovid stock?
They buried the lede on this new study. It's not that exercise beats out SSRIs for depression treatment, but that *just* dancing has the largest effect of *any treatment* for depression.
That's kind of beautiful.
@kari_marie @covidsafenetwrk @3M Where do you buy from and are they equivalent efficacy? I exclusively wear 3m but a black n95 equivalent would make me switch brands in a heart beat
Doctors and nurses get infected in their own hospitals unfortunately.
But there is one hospital in America that has had zero of these infections in over 25 years.
Not one single doctor or nurse in that hospital has been infected.
Not one.
What Went Wrong with a Highly Publicized COVID Mask Analysis? https://t.co/ucNwEsRi8H by @NaomiOreskes ht @jvipondmd
"In fact, there is strong evidence that masks do work to prevent the spread of respiratory illness."
"We often think of proof as a yes-or-no proposition, but in science, proof is a matter of discernment."
“Methodological fetishism..." (great term)
For the last decade, the sole focus of the media crisis narrative has been on saving old institutions. Let's hope that happens.
But what about building new institutions?
It's rarely even considered as a possibility. 3/x
I was reminded recently of just how awe-inspiring modern emergency medicine can be. Had a shift where multiple children were brought in by ambulance for significant asthma and croup attacks.
Thanks to quick identification by nurses and protocols that are drilled and practiced regularly, treatment was started almost immediately. All I had to do was quickly examine them, confirm the diagnosis, and check off some boxes on a protocol sheet. They were quickly stabilized and a child that was initially struggling to breath was laughing and jumping on their parents a few hours later. And we did again and again for each sick child, with limited staff, because we've wrung every last bit of efficiency and error out of the process. Unimaginable a century ago, maybe even decades ago.
And yet, we throw away this progress when we fail to adequately plan to handle surges in patient volumes that cripple our capacity to deliver these modern miracles.
605 jobs eliminated. Another blow to journalism in Canada in a long line of them this year alone. Devastating for so many individuals and families. And a huge loss for the public, who will know less about local issues and stories that need to be told.
I've read this article multiple times today, and this part hits me each time 👇🏿
"High-income countries do not have a shortage of nurses; they have a shortage of healthcare institutions providing necessary & sustainable working conditions, leading to a loss of nurses."

So, three years into the best (and most stressful) gig of my life, i.e. being a freelance journalist, I thought it would be nice to share some nuggets 🧵 (10)
Video review of critical events is a game changer in healthcare yet underutilized
I've started routinely video recording intubations (my own & my trainees).
Sports has long realized this benefit.
Here are my thoughts and why its so effective
