@providenceluvr diane reay looks specifically at oxbridge in a lot of her work (although more cambs i think?) which explores some of the bourdieu-y issues around lack of fit and identity etc, too

@providenceluvr iirc the controlled gap they reported was about 5% in the last access and participation plan but they do publish it in quite a lot of detail if you wanted to learn more!

@providenceluvr and while there are plenty of individual stories of success (the working class experience isn't homogeneous etc) i don't think they can be used to dismiss systemic issues

@providenceluvr to be fair, yes, many of the issues aren't unique to oxbridge - although some are! but there's a well documented attainment gap for working class students in HE, so it plays out in those students being less able to get the best grades (even controlling for attainment on entry)

i’ve been forced to watch some football recently and i really think they should consider editing the matches to have confessionals from the players like in reality tv shows. would be way more interesting

@TomWBrass vienna! my fave of the three, lots of lovely architecture and museums, plenty of options for lounging on the grass outside cathedrals etc etc
