@Directandhated@BobFromAccounts Cars maim a whole lot of people on pavements and crossings, often due to improper speeds.
There's no network built for cars. City streets are designed to be shared between road users. If anything, goods traffic is what makes up a governments mind to fund a road project
@Cookieurch If I daydreamed about dragging people out of cars and bashing them with a U lock, that would presumably be sadistic, and not funny? You know what the difference is though -- drivers actually do ram cyclists intentionally
@Ornamentaldont1@but_cyclists He doesn't. It's an illustration of the obvious fact that you are safer on a bike lane than in a car lane. Most cyclists are happy to slow down and give you wide berth, as I hope you've experienced. We all wish this was the case when a person is cycling on an urban street
@jk_rowling Lets take the idea of equating subgroup and group statistics further. Trans women appear about 3 times more likely to experience sexual violence than women. Could we use JKR logic to infer MEN are more at risk than women? Ignorance allows you to make any argument you want
@Right_Way_Fwd@KemiBadenoch I'd argue for taxing work less my friend. We're incentivising highly productive people to retire at 40 once made £3m (and leveraged that to own £3m more in UK equities) to live off of, tax-free. Also, it's not fair working class pay a higher % in tax.
@KemiBadenoch Just put something like the following into your favourite AI chat:
"I am 35 and I would like to retire. I have say £5m of wealth in properties and stock ISAs. How could I use holdings companies and loans to fund my lifestyle without paying tax?
How much tax will I pay yearly?"
@KemiBadenoch He said this in the context of wealth taxes, not income tax. The real unfairness is at the very top: the wealthy accumulate capital and fund their lifestyles with money that was never taxed. A minimum tax on all forms of income would make your backers pay as much as your voters

I for one thought my success was solely my responsibility, growing up poor and leftist. I still had access to the resources I needed to flourish. Growing wealth inequality is putting this at risk
@NorthernLove93@DavePerkins7@markhildahl19@brent_bellamy If the question is about accessible parking, I'm sure everyone agrees there should always plenty available. I walk 10 blocks to the forks, and could almost traverse the whole route solely on surface parking lots, so I'm also confused by the questions.
Please support the campaign for Presumed Liability. Presumed liability shifts the burden of proof to the insurance company in a collision, and is intended to compensate vulnerable road users more quickly and effectively https://t.co/aB1PqJ2wRa

@marlin87Brdn @danremps@brent_bellamy I used to live downtown Winnipeg and people are truly shocked to find out how much not likely I am to get hurt by a speeding/drunk/incompetent driver than a robber/methhead. The city literally collects statistics on this. This weird anti-urban sentiment baffles me
@vinhluu@BrentToderian@happy_roman Crowded buses are a political failure of underfunding the transit system. Traffic congestion is a mathematical consequence of the reality of personal motor vehicles. Its ultimately self-defeating to argue against long term improvements to viable alternatives to driving.
@marlin87Brdn @danremps@brent_bellamy Let me get this straight. The internal logic is "left saves money on jail's, therefore can't afford to clear roads". Or does the jail comment actually have nothing to do with road safety? If it was a genuine question, we do have number on traffic deaths vs recividism
