This couple has been in Canada for years. They applied for permanent residence — but are baffled they are still waiting for security clearance.
Security screenings for temporary or permanent resident applications are on the rise, often with no reason. https://t.co/vLgQ97B0st
🇨🇦 On October 9, Ontario issued 1,680 permanent residency invitations through 6 targeted draws under its Foreign Worker stream, International Student stream, and In-Demand Skills stream

Waiting over five years has deeply harmed professionals and their children.
Hearing only that “your security check is under review” destroys hope and dignity.
Please help us achieve our Canadian dreams.#IranianPRdelays#IranianPRdelays
@nkeung These people came to Canada LEGALLY with valid study/work permits. They contributed to the economy, paid taxes, and were invited by different provinces to apply for permanent residency. However, they have been stuck in security checks ,which is fine, but with no clear deadlines.
@CitImmCanada It has been 68 months since I submitted my PR application, and there has been no update.I hope the promise to speed up processing also includes Iranian applicants stuck for years in security screening.

@CitImmCanada That reduction in student and worker arrivals is consistent with Canada’s stated goal of “returning immigration to sustainable levels."
However, this does not justify or excuse the severe delays being experienced by many Iranian PR applicants.
@CitImmCanada While the government changes the flows of new temporary residents, the backlog and processing delays for those already in the system remain a separate (and serious) issue.
@CitImmCanada 29 months of separation for a newly married couple.
My physical and mental health have declined deeply.
Isn’t this a human rights issue worth addressing?
@smeurrens I've lived, studied, and worked in Canada for over 5 years. My PR has been stuck for 17+ months, causing serious stress. I want to build my future here and give back. This delay unfairly targets Iranians—others get decisions in months. We deserve fairness too #IranianPRdelays
