@NSToday957 I boycott American peanut butter etc. But I won't travel to Vegas anymore because I think air travel is full of delays, long lines and other risks. Also I may have a speeding ticket unpaid and maybe there is still a bench warrant for non fine payment. Its Trump not America
@NSToday957 Its a big international sailing event. Sail GP is the chance for hotels and restaurants to make hay. It is not the place for local residents not much free viewing of races . Better to watch live Sail GP streaming from home, this time.
@nsgov@TimHoustonNS@AndyFillmoreHFX@TonyMancini_NS@NSToday957@SaltWireToday I have heard that there is interest in taking over the old library building and rehabilitating it for community use, also some visions of taking over this public space for private use.
If the people and HRM politicians who wish to preserve an historic building, one that at least has been maintained, maybe Dalhousie will gift them the old Museum of Natural Science, now, the Dal Faculty of Architecture building.
At least the old Museum building is maintained and operational and has far more historical value than the fifties institutional design mimic that is the old Library
No value in keeping the old Library building if unrepairable, good historical and community value if kept as green space and allow scientific 'digs' .
Isn't archaeology a tourism draw?
@NSToday957@AndyFillmoreHFX@TonyMancini_NS I thought that it was already decided that the old library building couldn't be fixed. It was new in the fifties when I went to St Mary's Boys School and walked past it every day.
Return the property to green space and let the archaeologists dig, that is the best value for the community. https://t.co/um7FLVlBEk
@NSToday957 Does Bernie Smith still think replacing the Halifax Port propertries with residential development is a good idea? The new library is across the street, isn't it?

@TimHoustonNS@FredTilleyNS@environmentca@ns_environment Would the Province have a program to assist a homeowner planning a flat roof rain collection system which can significantly reduce the water bill?

@NSToday957 Aren't Electricians licensed to approve and install electric circuits in for example a home? They can work self employed and still have the authority to install and certify electrics. Would you need an inspector ? If there was an issue with a licenced electrician there is likely an industry process to resolve it.

@NSToday957@SaltWireToday Comparison of Populations and Average Asking Rents: Halifax (HRM), Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver (as of May 2026 Zumper data and July 1, 2025 population estimates).
Halifax, which ranks 15 in serviced Canadian cities by population, has rents comparable to Canada's three largest cities. Is there any wonder we are losing population when the rents are the same in cities with far higher employment prospects than Halifax?
