One of the reasons I don't support revolutions and insecurity in the GCC despite its many horrible and short-sighted policies is that a) the number of Muslims from third world countries that depend on remittances sent from these countries is not a light matter. Millions of people depend on them. Why should Allah grant a wish against an MBS or MBZ and not the prayer of a child or a wife that seek their father or husband to have a job and stability in their lives? Divine wisdom does not have to align with your Ummatic concerns, as noble and legitimate as they maybe.

B) despite all the bad city planning, concretization, lifelessness and soullessness of many GCC cities, the number of people who convert to Islam here is massive actually. More than those going to traditional Islamic cities like, let's say Fez or even Istanbul. This point needs some pondering. Foreigners usually in Fez and Istanbul are mostly thinking of not being scammed, so most of the cognitive energy and focus goes there. While in GCC they are free from that so any sacred moment, like an Adhan in an airport or mall, is simply hit different for a kafir who is dying to find meaning in life. I have actually met more foreigners converting in GCC than any other place and I, for the longest, couldn't quite put my finger on why that is the case.
