Hands down the BEST explanation I've heard of how platforms capture users, consumers & producers into negative economic spirals, why that’s bad, and what to do about it.
Kudos @ezraklein@CoryDoctorow@superwuster for getting it right.

@OspreyPacks Thank you for replacing my very-well-used Talon 22! Bought in 2020 during high covid, I've biked/hiked/ran/travelled with it literally every day since, thru hail, snow and fire. When I finally wore thru a part, your replacement policy kicked in and made my day. TY!
@Freakonomics At this stage, firms are learning how to exploit 'soft resources' — human traits like public trust, human happiness, mental health…
So long as these things are given no economic value, they will be mined to their limits for profit, breaking everything else along the way.
@Freakonomics Great that you focus on how companies exploit gaps in people's memories, decision-making-quirks, or willpower (aka ‘cognitive load’) to gain advantage.
@PANYNJ@MTA No signs at @JFKairport that A subway not running to Bklyn today— so you’ll take our money THEN NOT DELIVER SERVICE?
FU both MTA & Port Authority.
When you can’t work together you look bad together. #cheated@NYCMayorsOffice@GovernorNy
@Bose Love Bose noise reduction but when I upgraded from QC35 to QCUltra phones I was appalled at the user experience. Takes forever to turn on. Button functions scrambled/impossible to use. Bose app fights iOS bt. I design UX and this unfortunately is a step backwards. 🫣😭
@anylaurie16 I’ve just texted each of those numbers and subscribed super enthusiastically. So that should take the heat off you Laurie. 💕💕💕

@PivotPod@profgalloway@karaswisher Please interview Daron Acemoglu about AI, automation and data ownership. He presents a very interesting understanding of the underlying market incentives to tech discruption, and has super innovative suggestions for change.
@JFKairport@Starbucks@MTA waited in 20 minute line only to find there are no decaffeinated options. No signs, so you can just wait for nothing. There is but one coffee shop in terminal 5 and it is always overwhelmed + overpriced.
How are NYC travelers being served? #sad
Hey! my question is featured on the latest @PivotPod ! As an artist +ux designer who is deeply involved in tech, especially the kinds that pose existential risk, I asked a very dark question — and @karaswisher@profgalloway answered! 👋

@PivotPod@profgalloway you deploy the word 'creative' a lot in the latest pod but both historically and relative to AI that concept is without definition. Care to tell us what creativity is, who's special enough to have it & why they're somehow immune 2 AI?
