@RandyStine@RadioFreeTom Republicans:
"But we have been genetically selected to think nothing matters except money for rich donors. So, sorry about democracy, patriotism, truth, kindness, decency etc. We don't care."
@RandPaul I wish Americans deserved a govenment of non-racist pricks and xenophobes looking to divide the rubes for money and impunity for the plutocracy.
@Timcast Ok, so we are done talking about the treason, insurection, rape, allying with the worst countries in the world, breaking alliances with the best countries in the world, starting and losing stupid wars, and corruption that would make a latter Roman emperor blush?
@DouthatNYT Yes, one thing I always noticed in Western Europe is there aren't nearly enough basilicas. Sometimes I walk, 5 even 10 minutes without running into one! While we are at it can we get more fried chicken restraurants in Kentucky?
@elonmusk@paulg Left wing: VW, summer camps for kids, public vacation houses.
Right wing: Fanatical hatred of minorities, fanatical worship of the military, and fanatical efforts to take over the world.
@mattyglesias The GOP is the political equivalent of a million crack adicts. That in the US the opposition has to offer something other than not being a million crack adicts is proof that the country is insane.
@Jason Quebec joining the US because they fear for the survival of their culture was the most braindead thing until millions of Americans voted for Trump because he's going to fight for them.
@Rob_Flaherty On the radio this morning an author commented that literally any policy is now invariably followed with "because otherwise we lose to China".
@mattyglesias Republican voters are bad people. When your political counterparts are given a choice between bad and worse and invariably chose worse, your country is toast.
@mattyglesias In the US it does. If you take out a bunch of GOP goodies from the platform you have to replace it with something. For Republicans, for many decades, being a corrupt sociopath has been a feature not bug. Fighting health care for sick ppl and punching down everywhere isn't normal.
@mattyglesias One could not construct a follow up president more the opposite of Obama. "But he was popular" misses the point that he was dispised by vast numbers of people. The opportunity to vote anti-obama was likely not nothing for a lot of people anxious to "take their country back."
