Military attacks & have been arresting thousands of Palestinians unjustly & without trial. Not to mention the fact that they were basically still under occupation- just from the outside. Israel controls their borders, their airspace, coastline, etc. They were not free

On the flip side, let's say you're correct. Are they choosing war or are they choosing resistance against losing their land? Would you fight to defend your home? Would you expect their government to bomb you for it?

Their choices were Hamas or the PA. The PA was corrupt & werent serving in the interest of Palestinians. Whereas Hamas ran various charities, schools, clinics, etc. It wasn't the same as it is now.
