Here's a deceptively hard business scenario:

You own a niche product that customers genuinely love.

Retention is strong. Reviews are great. The brand has real fans.

But growth is slow because the product is expensive to make, hard to explain, and not an obvious impulse buy.

You can only fix one thing this year.

Calling the business strategy people who love a challenging small-business puzzle:

You own a single-location independent pet store.

Strong reputation. Loyal customers. Good staff. Decent sales. Clean, well-run store. Not distressed.

But after payroll, rent, inventory, shrink, software, insurance, and all the usual retail overhead… it’s basically break-even to slightly profitable.

Good business from the customer’s perspective. Mediocre business from the owner’s perspective.

What’s the key strategic decision that needs to be made to move this business to the next level?

@notpopbase @pluckedseraphim You're essentially subsidizing the business by not tipping. If they paid fair wages to server the price of your meal would be much higher. The only person you're hurting by not tipping is the server, who deserves to be paid for her labour.
