From a cursory search, Chiang Mai has over 1m population versus Chile's second largest city Puente Alto at under 700k.
But I havent checked via the 50km radius cutoff, so you may well be right.

Biggest city is Bangkok followed by much smaller Chiang Mai, at a ratio of approx. 10 to 1.
