Gonna be uptight & comment on this bc, even if jokingly said, I don’t like women being talked abt this way.
I don’t think Sheng Yi & Lian Zhou “chose to be weak” & I think that wording does a disservice to the efforts made to show where these women came from.

@dramateaque I agree! I love this director-writer duo and would love to see them work with the original cast but can also appreciate them highlighting a new cast of characters in the same world as ADOS.
The 1st film of #PeterChan’s #ShesGotNoName series, starring Zhang Ziyi, Wang Chuanjun, Yi Yangqianxi, Mei Ting, Zhao Liying, Lei Jiayin, Zhang Yu, Yang Mi, Peng Yuchang, Yin Fang, Da Peng, Li Xian, Fan Wei & more announces June 21 release

@dearmissy_ Definitely! It's a very different story but shares the same elements and sheds light on women's struggles through the FL's journey. I especially liked seeing "middle-aged" women question their roles and subvert societal norms.
@halfcactus currently nowhere 🫣 i had a little tumblr but i've been rethinking where to publish/share with friends. i have a not-so-regular translation practice/collab with my friend, and we've discussed publishing once we get a good amount done but we're not there yet 😅
crying oomf was complaining to me ab the lyst novel trans so i read the eng and cn one and almost vomitted blood also this translator note omfg do not touch novels if you can't speak the language well because i compared them & there was a mistrans from the first 2 paras on 😭😭
@dearmissy_ The Glory shares Faithful's themes of justice and liberation. In a later episode of The Glory, the FL even references Meng Wan and her fight for justice!
@dearmissy_ Did you watch The Glory (w/ Chen Duling)? It's written by the same writer as Faithful! It's also revenge-focused and has interesting/complicated female characters and relationships. I don't think it's as strong as Faithful but the mother-daughter relationship was worth the watch!
@yueyawans I understand using translation as a form of language practice, but omitting entire sentences/paragraphs on top of totally wrong translations makes me question the TLer's intentions/goals. I wonder if readers are aware??
@halfcactus I wonder how much of ZRN we'll see in it, since it looks like the daughter starts out young? Can't imagine Lay being her father, they're basically the same age 😂
