🧵Big news: the Senate just advanced Sen. Tim Kaine’s Iran War Powers Resolution, voting 50-47 to discharge S.J.Res.185 from the Foreign Relations Committee. This is a major step toward reasserting Congress’s constitutional authority over war powers. 1/3
Ro, I agree with you that we need a strong populist coalition of the right and left that can come together on the most important issues for the future generations of Americans.
This is no easy task given years of deep political divisions between the right and the left on issues both sides are passionate about.
For the sake of my children’s generation, I’m willing to come together, go to the whiteboard, and begin to try to sketch something new.
We both know the powerful political industrial complex of the Democrat and Republican parties will do anything to stop a right/left true America First coalition supported by ordinary Americans and not big money special interests and foreign agents and their donors.
This is likely the only way to break free of the corrupt system from both sides that controls everything, constantly goes to war, and only enriches themselves while average Americans continue to lose.
It’s definitely worth starting the conversation.
Yesterday, Israeli strikes across Lebanon killed 250+ people even as Pakistan said the ceasefire it brokered includes Lebanon.
Netanyahu urged Trump to start this war, now Trump must demand he help end it.

US military must refuse orders to commit genocide or war crimes.
@HouseDemocrats@SenateDems should PLEDGE now that anyone carrying out genocidal acts and war crimes WILL be prosecuted.
It's unfair for the US military to be put in this position — but they must refuse orders.
From ‘Just War’ to just peace. Both sides claim to be acting in ‘legitimate self-defence’. Over a thousand dead, millions displaced & its economic consequences are being felt around the world. @emccarthy3 asks, How can we break out of the cycle of violence?

In the name of Jesus, we urge our U.S Christian political leaders to stop the terror and trauma of bombing and war in Iran! This is not love of friends and enemies. @ChrisVanHollen@Pontifex
Even in the very rare times, violence appears to topple a regime, it inevitably leads to massive cycles of violence such as more war, civil war, military coups, political corruption, and generational trauma.
