Cory Barlog has revealed that God of War Laufey isn’t a traditional prequel to God of War (2018) or God of War Ragnarök.

Instead, the game takes place alongside the events of those games, giving players a chance to see the Norse saga from Faye’s perspective.

Speaking to IGN, Barlog said: “This is not a prequel. This is a continuation of the timeline right at the beginning of God of War 2018.”

Barlog said the game is deeply tied to the existing story: “Everything that we’re doing inside of this game, running in parallel to the timeline of 2018 and Ragnarok, also has direct connections to everything.”
