A Wedding, A Guest List, and the Cost of Silence
A lavish wedding in Florence has drawn attention not for its beauty, but for the company it kept. Reports say lawmakers, contractors, and even a top cabinet secretary tied to finance and budget were among the guests.
This same official is now closely linked to the highest leader of the land—blocking the reduction of VAT, entangled with lawmakers including one fugitive caught abroad, and connected to decisions that defunded PhilHealth while flood control projects remain mired in scandal.
Public service is meant to be modest. When privilege and power mix in private celebrations, questions of conflict of interest naturally arise.
This is not about one wedding. It is about a system where excess thrives while ordinary Filipinos are told to accept shortages as normal.
Transparency is not harassment. Oversight is not persecution. Silence is permission.

Malinaw ang ating paniniwala: transparency is essential to rebuilding public trust.
I’ll never forget the look in her eyes.
She wasn’t barking. She wasn’t crying.
She was silent, clinging to the cold wall of a deep well, half-submerged in dirty water, shaking from exhaustion.
No one knew how long she’d been down there.
But the bloody scrapes all over her paws told the whole story… she had tried to climb out again and again until she physically couldn’t anymore.
Most dogs would panic. But she just… waited.
As if she had already accepted that no one was coming.
But someone did make a call to Animal Aid Unlimited in India.
When the rescuers arrived and looked down, something incredible happened.
She lifted her head.
Just a tiny bit.
As if she was saying, “Is it really over? Are you really here for me?”
One rescuer climbed down with a rope. The second he reached her, she didn’t snap or run.
She leaned into him.
A dog who had every reason to fear humans… chose to trust instead.
And that moment wrecked me.
He held her gently, strapped her into a harness, and as they pulled her up, people gathered around the well, watching with their hands over their mouths, hoping she’d make it.
When she finally reached the top… everyone exhaled.
She was soaked, trembling, and exhausted…
but safe.
And the way she looked at her rescuer, head resting against his arm, it wasn’t fear anymore.
It was gratitude.
It was relief.
It was “Thank you for not giving up on me.”
They rushed her to the shelter, treated her wounds, fed her, wrapped her in blankets… and for the first time in who knows how long, she slept peacefully.
He didn’t rescue her for applause.
He did it because her life had value… even when others decided it didn’t.
That’s what being human should mean. ❤️
Naiinip na si Trillanes. Di naman talaga “nonchalant” si Mayor Leni. But judging from what happened in the 2022 elections, she can only do so much. Wala siyang pera, wala siyang makinarya. She was up against “logistically formidable” foes. So, let’s see how things go. Mayor Leni is NOT a superwoman! She, or anyone deserving, needs our help jto bring decency in our government in 2028. Relax SenTri.
"My husband is a police officer. He was called to a pharmacy in town where a dog had been abandoned.
He picked her up and took her to the shelter, thinking she had a family missing her since she had a collar on.
About a month later, we saw her picture on the animal shelter’s Facebook that she was still waiting to be adopted. We went the next day to see her and we just knew we had to have her!
The first picture is when my husband first picked her up, the second is the face she made at the shelter when we got her, and the third is my husband and her snuggling at home!
