In the past few days, I have been inundated with inquiries from legions of wellwishers (in Nigeria & abroad) as to whether the appellate Brief for MAZI NNAMDI KANU has been filed.
I relayed these genuine concerns to #MNK & he instructed me to now publicly disclose that:
YES. The Brief has been filed, but it’s not the version that was circulated on social media some days ago.
What now remains is for the Government to join issues by filing it’s own reply Brief, and so soon thereafter, the Court of Appeal will set a date for the hearing of the appeal or adoption of the respective Briefs in open court.
Once this is done, the Court will be minded to render its judgment within 90 days, as required by law.

Why are peaceful protesters still standing trial in a democracy?
Today, a video surfaced showing Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, on his way to Abuja alongside other #FreeNnamdiKanu protesters for their continued trial. He promised to update the public on the 5th.
But before that update comes, Nigeria must answer a question.
When citizens gather to peacefully demand justice, should they be treated as criminals? When lawyers, activists and ordinary Nigerians raise their voices on matters of public concern, should the response be prosecution or dialogue?
A nation does not prove its strength by putting peaceful voices on trial. A nation proves its strength by protecting the rights guaranteed by its Constitution.
As the nation watches and the world pays attention, the upcoming proceedings will be more than a trial of individuals.
It will be a trial of our commitment to democracy. A trial of our respect for fundamental rights. A trial of whether dissent still has a place in Nigeria.
History has a long memory. And history is watching.

Where Are the Files?
The Trump administration just released the UFO files. The Boulos and Tinubu Files stay locked.
Boulos. Trump's Senior Advisor for Africa. Financially entangled with the Chagoury network that holds more than $12 billion in no-bid Nigerian contracts. In every previous administration, his financial disclosures would be on the White House website. Trump's team ended that. I filed three FOIAs on April 14. Due May 27. Eight days overdue. Senator Schiff and 25 members of Congress have been asking for the same disclosures since April 2025. Nothing. (Did I forget to mention this guy is Tiffany Trump's father in law? Hmmm.)
Tinubu. 2,500 pages of FBI, DEA, IRS, State, and CIA files on the Nigerian president — going back to the 1993 Chicago heroin investigation where the U.S. seized $460,000 from him. Judge Beryl Howell ordered them released. The agencies missed every deadline for a year. On February 3, she set a hard one: full production by June 1, 2026. June 1 came. June 4 today. Not one page.

Chief Okpara, and his Deputy, successfully submitted the Sovereign Documents of the United States of Biafra to the Government of Austria through the following ministries:
Ministry of the Interior (Immigration)
Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (Foreign Affairs)

This important diplomatic engagement marks another step forward in the international outreach efforts of the United States of Biafra.
Austria, a respected and internationally recognized sovereign nation with a population of approximately 9.2 million people, stands as an example of a country whose independence, territorial integrity, and national identity are fully acknowledged and protected by the international community. Like Austria, many nations across Europe, Africa, and other regions of the world maintain their sovereignty with populations of one million, two million, or even fewer citizens. Examples include Iceland (approximately 400,000 people), Luxembourg (approximately 680,000 people), Montenegro (approximately 620,000 people), Malta (approximately 550,000 people), Estonia (approximately 1.4 million people), Eswatini (approximately 1.2 million people), The Gambia (approximately 2.9 million people), and Botswana (approximately 2.7 million people).
These nations demonstrate that the legitimacy of a people's national identity and sovereign aspirations is not determined by population size, but by the principles of self-determination, governance, territorial integrity, and recognition under international law.
Furthermore, the aspirations of the Biafran people have been demonstrated through a self-referendum in which more than 50 million Biafrans participated and voted in support of the restoration of Biafra's interrupted sovereignty. The Government of the United States of Biafra maintains that this expression of the popular will reflects the fundamental principle of self-determination as recognized under international law and the Charter of the United Nations. We submit that the democratic wishes of millions of Biafrans deserve recognition and respect by the international community, consistent with the same principles that have guided the recognition of nations and peoples throughout modern history.
The Government of the United States of Biafra remains committed to ensuring that Biafran nationality and identity are clearly distinguished from the colonial-era Nigerian identity, as part of our broader pursuit of the complete decolonization of our homeland and the preservation of our national heritage.
The protection, welfare, and dignity of all Biafran nationals remain a top priority of our government. We express our sincere gratitude to all countries and institutions that have provided legal recognition, support, or engagement with the United States of Biafra in their respective jurisdictions.

Biafran leader, Simon Ekpa's arrest in Finland raises concerns in the US
The arrest of Biafran separatist leader, Simon Ekpa in Finland has sparked debates, with a former U.S. government official criticizing Finnish authorities for allowing the arrest.
Following Ekpa’s arrest, Michael Rubin @mrubin1971 , a former U.S. government official attached to the Pentagon and a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, criticized Finnish authorities for their handling of the case.
According to Rubin, it was unfair for the Finnish authorities to arrest Ekpa when all he sought was ‘freedom’ for his people. He accused Finland’s judiciary and its foreign ministry of allowing scammers and human rights abusers to weaponize its judiciary as a mechanism for transnational repression and harassment.
“Finland coasts on its reputation of liberalism, human rights, and freedom. When it comes to Africans escaping repression at home, alas, it is a reputation the country no longer deserves.” He said.

How the ghost of Aburi came back to haunt Nigeria.

Over half a century after the repudiation of #Aburi plunged the rest of Nigeria into an unnecessary war against the East, the script has flipped in painful ways for Nigeria as a whole, especially in the Christian Middle Belt.
In Plateau State, communities in Gowon’s home region have seen hundreds of thousands displaced by sheer terror, with reports of villages renamed and religious sites altered. Even America, a foreign power, is alarmed enough to weigh-in with muscular military intervention.
In Taraba, Danjuma, who was involved in the 1966 coup against General Ironsi, has publicly urged his people to defend themselves, describing the killings as genocide and accusing elements of the Nigerian military - that he once led - of complicity.
Danjuma’s ominous warning: “If you depend on the Armed Forces to protect you, you will all die”, reflects the deep frustrations (or even regrets) of a man who had fought against Aburi. And his sentiments and fears reflect what had propelled Ojukwu’s stance on Aburi, but he was roundly demonized as a secessionist and baited into a war of attrition against the East. As a digression, it is the same demonizing that watered the ground for the infamous life imprisonment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The deeper lesson of today’s harsh verdict of history is structural and stark. A centralized federal security architecture, when captured by narrow interests or weakened by vicious ethnic politics, often fails to protect vulnerable communities. This was most self-evident during the Buhari regime, with its vestiges still remaining to this day. The State-actor complicity Danjuma lamented mirrors the 1966 massacres that had traumatized the East in 1967. Today, groups like the Berom, Angas, Jukun and other North Central Christian minorities are at the receiving end and it is not letting up.
Had the Aburi Accord been fully implemented, regions might have had the constitutional tools to secure their people. Instead, the resort to a utopian unity has produced a State where violence once directed against the East in 1967 has now spread to the very people that had fought against Aburi. Ironic.
The violence has even reached parts of the Southwest with an alarming upsurge that prompted figures like Sunday Igboho to start demanding the formation of a regional security network to defend the Southwest. This is precisely what Aburi offered in 1967, even before Igboho was borne.
The ghost of Aburi confirms the saying that history’s harsh verdict grows clearer with time: Aburi was not an act of secession, but a pragmatic attempt to manage deep divisions through decentralization. Therefore, rejecting it did not strengthen Nigeria; it entrenched the very pathologies that now threaten every region, mostly in the North which did the most to reject Aburi.
As it stands today, it is not open to argument that Nigeria did not become a better or safer nation by rejecting the Aburi Accord. It did not even achieve the vaunted unity that cost millions of lives. It simply became a country where the very ethnic-driven violence Ojukwu had tried to forestall eventually came for everyone else, now affecting to the greatest degree those that had fought tenaciously against Aburi.
So, all considered, history has rendered its verdict, and that is: Aburi was right and beyond reproach. And Ojukwu was the Nostradamus that saw the tomorrow of Nigeria, and that tomorrow is here.

You honored the call of the United States of Biafra not out of fear, but out of love for those who died and faith in the nation we are rebuilding. Your discipline on May 30th is a message to the world: Biafra governs itself. The voluntary Monday sit at home adds to the control the USB government exerts on its territory.
To our fallen heroes: Your blood was not shed in vain. The flag you raised still flies. The anthem you sang still echoes. The United States of Biafra remembers you, and will continue to remember you until justice is complete.
To the mothers who lost sons, to the children who grew up without fathers, to the survivors who carry the scars: Your government sees you. Your pain is our covenant. Your dignity is our duty.
To the international community: Take note. A people who can collectively honor their dead, who can keep a national holiday across 40 states, are a people who govern themselves. The United States of Biafra is not an aspiration. It is a reality redeclared on November 29, 2024, and lived every day by its citizens.
To Nigeria our neighbors, you are currently occupying our peaceful Biafra Nation and forcefully removing and secretly killing our young men and women and fathers using reintegrated terrorists you recruited into the Nigeria military, DSS, Special squad and police. I peacefully ask you to leave our land.
We will continue to defend our people and territory. We will remember. We will rise.

Nigeria’s illegal imprisonment of truth-speaker Nnamdi Kanu
Read the Sokoto Declaration. Then look at the cell.
A man chained in Sokoto just told the world, in writing, that the way forward is strict non-violence. Unity across tribe. Unity across religion. Unity across race. The basic human rights every human being is born with. Those are his words. That is now the record.
That is not a terrorist. That is a conscience.
And that is what the regime in Abuja cannot survive — a prisoner whose only weapon is the truth, and whose truth keeps getting louder the deeper they bury him.
Nnamdi Kanu was illegally abducted from Kenya. Tried under a law that no longer existed. A British dual citizen, convicted for words spoken in London. Shackled 800 kilometers from his family in a cell in the heart of the Caliphate to silence him.
It did not work. It will not work.
The whole charade has collapsed. The man calls for peace and they call him a terrorist. The man calls for unity and they call him a separatist. The man calls for human rights and they call him a threat. They have run out of lies, and the world has finally learned to read.
His only crime is telling the truth about a tryannical regime built on graves.
