Then he told me something that shocked me.

“In my school in Canada, the lecturers don’t give students zero in exams. Even if you fail, they’ll still find a way to encourage you. The lowest you can get is 40%.”

I was confused.
“Wait, you mean even if a student writes rubbish, they’ll still give him 40?”

He nodded.

“Yes. So, one day I asked my lecturer the same question. I said, ‘Sir, why not give zero? Isn’t that the right punishment for failure?’
The man looked at me and said something that broke me.”

He said,

“Young man, no human deserves a zero.

How can I give a zero to a student who wakes up early every day to attend lectures?

How can I give a zero to someone who tries, even if he didn’t succeed?

How can I give a zero to a mind that is still learning?

Here, we don’t grade just answers. We grade effort. Because everyone deserves to feel seen.”

My friend paused for a while, his eyes almost teary.
He said, "Felix, that day I knew the real meaning of humanity. They don’t just teach books there, they teach value.”

His story took me back to my childhood.
I remembered how my primary school teacher used to give me zero and then announce it proudly in class.
She would draw big eyes and mouth on my script and tell my classmates to sing “Shame, shame, shame!” while she flogged me in front of everyone.

Back then, I thought it was normal.
But now I know many of us didn’t fail because we were dull.
We failed because the system made us believe we were nothing.

Sometimes, all a child needs is encouragement, not humiliation.
Zeros destroy confidence.
Mockery kills interest.
Once a student believes he’s useless, he stops trying.

Teachers, parents, lecturers let’s change this system.
Let’s stop tearing children down in the name of discipline.
Let’s start teaching with love, patience, and respect.

We can build a better Nigeria.
We can build a better Africa.
Because every child deserves a chance not shame.

Ranar Da Na Fara Shiga INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (ICU), a ranar ne na fahimci LIFE HAS VOLUME CONTROL 🫀😭

ICU posting will reset your brain. Nobody warned me.

Na shiga ICU cike da kwarin guiwa, ina Sanye da white scrub ɗina ga, stethoscope a wuyana sai walƙiya yake.

Walking like I was about to diagnose hypertension from ten metres away. 😂

Nurse ɗin da na tarar a wurin ta kalle ni tun daga tsakar kaina har zuwa tafin ƙafata, sannan ta ce: “cire takalmin ki”.

A nan take na dakata ina maimaita tambayar cikin raina, in cire takalmana!

Cikin raina nace, Malama, sashen ICU zan shiga ko kuwa ofishin CMD? 😭😂

Amma matar nan ko gizau ba ta yi ba! Ta ce min “off it”.

Da sauri na cire su ba tare da na furta uffan ba. Babu jayayya, babu gardama, babu kuma neman bayanin saboda me.
Irin Cikakkiyar biyayyar nan kawai! 😂

Abu na farko da ya fara 😭 Firgita ni ina shiga shine sanyin da ya ratsa tafin ƙafata, shi ya ruguza duk wani ƙwarin guiwa da nazo dashi lokaci ɗaya!

Nurse ɗinnan ta kalle ni tace: “Kawai ki gode wa Allah da yake da ƙafafunki kika taka kika shigo wannan wurin."

Ban iya cewa komai ba sai ɗan guntun murmushin da nayi, ta ƙara da cewa in kalli ko ina.

Kallon farko da na fara yi, ventilators na gani suna ta gudanar da numfashi a madadin mutane. Ga monitors na ta kawo lambobi waɗanda nake ta ƙoƙarin fassara ma'anarsu.

infusion pumps na ta kawo haske tamkar fitilun events na buki. Ga Someone sedated, Someone intubated, Someone not moving at all.

That statement suddenly made sense.

ICU monitors don’t beep gently.

They announce themselves.

I moved closer to one patient’s bed to check the chart.

The nurse said, “Don’t touch anything.”

Okay Ma… I only breathed near it. 😂

😭 The Oxygen Humiliation. I saw a patient on an oxygen mask. I leaned forward to auscultate like a serious medical student.

The nurse looked at me again. That ICU nurse look… The kind of look that can reduce your confidence from 100% to 2%. 😭😂

I quietly adjusted myself. At that point I realized… ICU nurses are built differently.

Then the consultant arrived.

Instant silence.

Even my confidence reduced volume.

He pointed at one patient and asked,

“What’s this patient’s ABG showing?”

My brain disconnected immediately.

ABG?

Arterial…

Blood…

Gas…

After that…Darkness. 😭

I opened my mouth. Nothing came out.

The same nurse that made me remove my shoes answered confidently.

Normal values. Interpretation. Management. Everything.

That’s when I realized… ICU nurses are not ordinary nurses. They are co-consultants. 😂

After just thirty minutes inside ICU… I understood something. Ward patients are sick.

ICU patients are fighting for existence. That place is not loud. It’s heavy.

Even your laughter feels like it doesn’t belong there.

ICU teaches you that: A normal heartbeat is a blessing. Breathing without assistance is a privilege. Walking into a hospital by yourself is grace. Good health is something we don’t appreciate enough.

When I left ICU that day… I wore my shoes outside like someone returning from a spiritual encounter. 😭😂

And I thanked God again. Not because someone told me to… But because I had just seen how precious life really is.

ICU didn’t humble me. It made me grateful. ICU didn’t humble me. It made me grateful.

That day, I realized that being able to breathe, walk, laugh, and hug our loved ones is a privilege.

May God keep us healthy, protect our families, and keep us far from the ICU except as healthcare workers.

The Federal Government have approved the appointment of Professor Abdullahi Ahmed, an indigene of Gombe State and a Muslim as the provost of the National Veterinary Research Institute, NVRI situated in Jos South LGA and the Berom youth are out in number protesting the appointment on three grounds that;

1- He's a Muslim
2- He's not from Plateau
3- He's not Berom.

All they want is, a Christian from the Berom ethnic group to head the organization as if it's a state institution. They want Professor Abdullahi Ahmed to be replaced with Dr Luka Pam.

Muslims avoid pork primarily because the Quran explicitly commands it, categorizing the animal as inherently impure (Najis al-Ayn). This classification means the impurity is a fundamental part of the pig's essence, not a temporary state caused by mud or neglect.

Consequently, no amount of physical scrubbing, bathing, or pristine living conditions can alter the spiritual status assigned to it by divine decree.

While washing a pig three times a day makes it superficially clean, it does not change its ritual status under Islamic law.

Furthermore, Islamic teachings emphasize that an animal's outward behaviour and biological design reflect its inner nature. Even in a sterilized enclosure, a pig retains its anatomical traits, such as a highly unselective digestive system and a lack of functional sweat glands to expel toxins.

Islamic dietary laws operate on the principle that the food a person consumes physically and spiritually influences their character. Therefore, the animal's natural disposition as a scavenger makes its consumption incompatible with the spiritual purity a Muslim aims to maintain.

The Islamic restriction serves as a test of faith and a reminder of the boundaries set by Allah. Islamic jurisprudence views divine commands as inherently beneficial to humanity, even when the exact physical wisdom is not fully apparent to the human mind.

Refraining from pork helps believers practice self-discipline and reinforce their reliance on revelation over subjective logic.
