Weeks in the field = Months in the lab. More repetitive and less exciting than fieldwork, but the satisfaction of having all my PhD analysis complete before the Christmas break is almost as good as a beer at the end of a long day hiking around volcanoes! #PhD#volcano#science
@actforpeace Sorry, happy to help in many other ways but can’t give permission for use of my photos. They’re part of my research & response work so very few situations where I can allow them to be published outside of that.
Locals showed us this ‘beach’ which didn’t exist before the sept 2017 #eruption. It’s been formed from ashfall and lahars and grown over the last year with each eruption. #Ambae#Vanuatu#Volcano
@MetZachar Here with the impacts team so we’ve got a full survey for agriculture, health and infrastructure damage covered. Will post more photos but evacuation progressing rapidly and limited signal!
We’ve been working in schools across Tanna, sampling drinking water and monitoring air quality. The teachers at Ecole de Louieru asked us to explain our work to the students and they were such a great class #yasur#Tanna#Vanuatu#volcano#envhealthrisks
@sandramcgeo looking at health & env risks across the island from the gas & ash over time. @dread_rocks has been working more directly on Yasur for a couple of years though!
