@RestIsPolitics on HoL reform let's just scrap PM peerages; have a x-party committee do appointments; scrap life peerages & have 20 year terms; introduce attendance & activity requirements. Avoids the pitfalls of an elected second house but better than what we have now.
@LBC@SangitaMyska Aside from all the very obviously wrong things this man said, I was also perplexed by his assertion that 40% of the Tory party had any bearing at all on the nation’s view. The majority of voters aren’t members of a party at all. Imagine being so insular, it’s wild.
Dear @RishiSunak
Congratulations on your appointment by your colleagues as our Prime Minister. I listened to your speech earlier. You said your government will have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level. You also used the word compassion. 1/4
@LadyDoctorSays Anxious, but in the round successful and well. On good days recognize what I’ve achieved; on bad days (too many) convinced not done or not doing enough
@JackMusk77@cagoldberglaw @naomi_leeds She called out in the 🧵 why SN is diff to other methods & isn’t calling on banning everything. If it’s not enough that it doesn’t have any other household purpose, fine. It should be enough that their reco algorithm upsells other items to make it even more dangerous
@sueperkins@CPhilpOfficial I’m not sure increased numbers in the Met would do anything to make us safer anyway. Unless increase in numbers came with new recruiting and training practices, a culture overhaul and actual prosecutions and sentencing.
@BethRigby She really winds me up. She’s done nothing but slag off her education. And in all this talk of growth hasn’t had anything close to a vision for education and skills in this country. You know, the thing that all businesses talk about wanting to invest in 🤯
@IanDunt I’m pretty conflicted to be honest. I’m behind Kier, and eagerly await a GE, but I think current events speak for themselves. Don’t know that the attack ads are necessary just yet, I’d be focusing on presenting a more promising alternative. 🤷🏻♀️
@AlasdairIS@Crofton_Parker@10DowningStreet@trussliz@BritishGas Except she doesn’t command the confidence of her MPs. A third only supported her, and it looks like less than that left looking at reporting. AND whilst it’s true we vote for an MP/party we do so on the basis of a manifesto. Isn’t Liz’s agenda a departure from the last manifesto?
@MattChorley A woman in the post office queue asked by the clerk her baby’s name. “Gooey”.
“What an unusual name, can you spell it for me?”
“I saw it in the baby book and fell in love! It’s G…U…Y”
😂🤦🏻♀️
@MikeJPretzel@Keir_Starmer But what’s your alternative? There’s nobody to vote for if you go by that logic. Seems more blinkered to me than trying to be pragmatic and use your vote
@MikeJPretzel@Keir_Starmer Oh for goodness sake. I voted remain, but forcing us all to keep focusing what has already happened does not help us with the shit show today. Brexit was a mess, badly executed and it’s their generals that mess with us now. But you won’t support kier? Don’t be daft
