We need to change the “those who can’t do, teach” reputation of teachers and value education in and of itself rather than as a means to an end all the time
Workplaces should offer flexibility rather than the other way round. Kids need to more time to play, explore, run around and cool off their brains. Why do we keep trying to make society work for adults rather than for kids.
🧵. “Other disruptions to the school model” floated are extending school hours, which would give students access to extracurricular activities and reduce stress on “harried parents trying to balance work and their children’s needs” says Dr Alex Robson
'As appealing as it may be for politicians to focus on affordability, if you build it with no staff, they will try to come & be turned away. Until child care becomes a well-compensated and well-respected job, all efforts to give parents more affordable choices will fall short.'
Call me idealistic but property developers should be the ones pioneering change as they can afford it. These principles aren’t that complicated. Plant plants, put windows facing the right direction, create cross breeze.

I’d love to see @RobStokesMP back as Minister for Planning and Homes if Roberts can’t deliver affordable AND SUSTAINABLE housing. Loved Stoke’s design principles and they make sense to help future proof our state.
Cont. “Mr Roberts said the minister had been “given a clear set of priorities to deliver a pipeline of new housing supply and act on housing affordability”” — houses won’t be affordable if the insurance premiums and cost of heating and cooling are sky high
Couldn’t be more disappointed that Anthony Roberts MP is looking at scrapping orders to consider fire and flood risks before building to deliver more housing. He may also scrap the sustainable design principles.

I just wrote a letter to congratulate NSW Treasurer Matt Kean for taking action on early learning and childcare. Write one here: https://t.co/sSUjl5fWnF
“What if I could create a moment of peace on the internet, an essayette, a slice of life on the farm that was so different from most people’s suburban existences.” This is exactly what Maggie has done and it’s wonderful.

It’s very encouraging to see NSW govt design planning regulations. Tree canopy, insulation, green space all matter - especially on hot days like today. Even if late the change is welcome.
